Hey guys, new to the forum and have a few questions that were alittle fuzzy to me. I took my CPL training course and have my certificate. I had just moved down here and had to change my address so that I could apply where I lived so thats all set.

I am going to be going to the sheriffs office in westland for my finger prints, is that where I turn in my CPL application? just not sure what I have to do next.

Those in wayne county could you let me know where/what do I need to do next? Thank you very much.

That is it in a nutshell. Take your Certificate, I.D. and $105 in cash and Passport Photos.
You will also have to fill out a Sheriff's form there too, Its up by the window if you have to wait in line.
:welcome: to MGO

Don't forget your passport photos. Here's a link to the Wayne County Concealed Weapon Permits -FAQs. It also has the paperwork you'll need. You can print it out and fill it out at home............

This is probable best case scenario. About 4 to 6 weeks after you turn it in to go before the Gun Board, then another 6 to 8 weeks after approval.
Just speculation on my part, based upon what I am hearing. You have to figure if you turn it in say this monday, it won't have a chance to get to the gun board until Jan. 12 at the earliest, and then based on the number of apps. they get if it doesn't make it to January's meeting now your waiting til Feb. meeting.
Good Luck, I would get it in ASAP if I were you.

I have a question along the same line. My permit expires in 2011. How much ahead of time should I apply for the new permit.

When I got mine they were in no hurry. You wait until the County Clerk feels like waiting on you and then you wait for the sherriff to take your prints.
Cash only.
Bring something to read.
Cannot carry inside the office

They also can do the passport photos at the sherrifs now. I believe they charge $10. Its not a bad idea to get them done there. When I got mine from walgreens, luckily the girl took two sets because she knew that a photo needed for the CPL has to be a lil more focused on the neck up. The original ones she took would have been declined by the clerk.

well spent an hour and 45 mins at the westland sheriffs and handed in all the paperwork for my CPL. Also anyone going there be careful and go 25 mph, I got a ticket pulling there from a ******* cop sitting there waiting for ppl, he pulled over 3 ppl while I was waiting. So now its just a waiting game and hope I get it sometime in February. Thanks for all the info guys.

Turned in my application at the County Clerk's Office on 11/22/1010...and still waiting for my permit to arrive. I'm thinking I might call the CCO on Tuesday and find out when the WaCo Gun Board got my prints back. From everything I've read the WaCo GB has 45 days for me to either receive a denial letter or my license in the mail.

My wife and I live in Wayne Co. and it took each of us 3 months to get our CPL in the mail. Get it laminated so it doesn't fall apart and start carrying as soon as you get your CPL! Congrats!

Jerry from Wyandotte,
Remember there were some holidays in there and you know how dedicated the Wayne Co government workers are..... I would expect that you have at least a few more weeks to wait...

I got it last Saturday. The good news is that they don't issue the junky paper CPLs anymore. They're a nice hard plastic card now. I did see on another forum, however, that you should put some of that self-stick laminate on it anyway to keep the ink from wearing off.

I am hearing from the other forums that they will take your photo there for another 10 bucks or so?? And that it is better to do this as sometimes they reject your passport photo.

Actually, Now that I have been through the process, they took my photo
that I supplied, and also tood a digital photo. Then my digital fingerprints.
No extra charge beyond the $105.00

Now I wait......
