Went out this afternoon armed with 100 waxworms and a dozen minnows...thought i had enough bait, well i almost ran out. I must of caught another 60 smaller gills that i threw back . Ended up with 30 gills , 1 12" perch and a few crappie (1 that went 14").

Looking forward to stocking the freezer again for the long winter ahead :gobble:

The hot jig was a glow in the dark white teardrop with a green dot tipped with a waxworm

How thick is the ice? I walked across Middle Straits last weekend and was just curious as to how thick it was. I can only remember a few times that the lakes where frozen enough before Christmas to ice fish but I think this is the earliest and thickest freeze by far!

Mike, We knew it was safe because of the 4 wheeler tracks all over the place.

We had a good 5" of solid black ice..perhaps 6" The snow covering it may hide some dangers on lakes that dont freeze uniformly..just be safe
