ITEM REVIEWED:Uplula handgun magazine loading tool
PURCHASED FROM / COST: Firing line ~$25
PRO'S:fast and easy to use, small light and reasonable price
CON'S:none so far

I bought this about a year ago after a friend had one and recommended it and I tried it. At first I thought it was unnecessary and maybe a gimmicky device as I never used one before and never thought the Glock version mag loader was all that good. I have been to several high round count shooting courses and did ok loading by hand with no tool.

I wish I would have had this then. It saves the thumbs. It is as fast or faster then loading by hand alone and for the last few rounds makes it a breeze. It does take a little learning or practice to get fast and efficient but after a magazine or three it is really fast and very easy. I have loaded approx 100-150 13-15 round capacity magazines with the tool as I help other shooters or loan it when I finish with my loading and have been to 4-5 schools since buying it. No problems and everyone who tried it liked it with several female shooters buying their own.

I have had one for a few years now...

Makes those pesky "last few rounds" go in a whole lot easier!

Whether its a Glock, SW MP9, 1911..... the last rounds go in like BUTTER! :score:

great info!

I saw there is one out now for single stack .380's and .22's for about $27. I'm going to buy one of those too.

I've got an UpLula and it has turned out to be the most expensive firearm accessory I've ever bought. I end up shooting way more ammo every time I go to the range since I bought the thing, lol.

At first when I bought one my friends all called me a pussy for having it because according to them "real men load with their hands". Well while they will still busy loading their magazines, I was shooting. And at the end of the range trip, my thumbs weren't raw. Low and behold, the next time we went out, all my friends had them.

Got one in mail today. Yet to use it. Wasn't their a loader that could handle multiple calibers?

The UpLula will handle multiple calibers and single and double stack mags.

My thumbs were hurting bad at the end of HG1, so I bought an Uplula right away. I used it a few times at the range but didn't fully appreciate it until HG2. I now have Lulas for my rifles, a Lula stripper guide, and an going to get the new smaller Uplula for the pocket guns, and my Appleseed rifle.

I have one, and it is the best striper guide ever.
It's actually called the striplula, if anyone wants to google it.

When I bought my SR9 about two weeks ago I bought one as it came recommended on the Ruger boards, both mags on this gun are 17 round and new, I tried loading them by hand and man it was A LOT of pressure and a pain in the rump after the 10th round and that was on mag 1!!!!! Stuck the UPLULA on there and BAM first mag done BAM second mag done, very impressed a must have i would say especially for the larger capacity and or new mags.

Mine should be in the mail this week. Gotta love these little devices that allow us to spend more on ammo because we can use it up so much faster with less pain.

Don’t buy any of the products by that company!

It’s all a trap to get you to shoot up all your ammo FAST!
I think they own stock in all the ammo companies. :D

For normal handgun mage Uplula is pretty much waste. But for Mac and sten mags they are a life-saver.

my arthritic hands say otherwise...
I can load maybe 6-8 mags before my hands start cramping bad, with the Uplula it never bothers me.

Maybe for you kids, I was one once, but for people with hand injury, or people with weak hands it makes a world of difference, especially for double stack mag’s .

So my question is ... When you buy one do you have to specify the caliber that you are going to use it on or is it one size fits all?

There are 2 sizes. The regular fits single stack 380 to staggered 45. I don't know if it will fit 45acp Glock mags, as Glock likes to use wide magazines. I should take it to my dad's G30 and find out. The Baby fits 380 and smaller. The Baby is new and I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but hear that it works just as good as the original.

You will also notice that you can load mags much faster with it than you can using bare hands.

Couldn't disagree more. I can spend a lot more of my expensive range time actually shooting than reloading mags when I have my uplula. Sure it makes it easier, which is nice, but just as important to me is the speed. I can easily reload a 17rd m&p mag in 1/3 or less of the time it would take to load "manually".

And Fwiw, while it does work on MAC mags (at least it seemed to work decent on my cobray mags) it does have a little trouble on mags that stay double stack all the way to the feed lips, like uzi or colt smg mags.

Are the pistol ones really any better than the loader that came with my XDM?

IMHO Yes, you can switch to different mags with different guns and go from double stack to single with no issue...( some glock mags might not work with) so say makers of the uplula..

The XDm mag loader can only do the one style ... There nothing wrong with them, there fine for that pistol...

I have used the device Ruger gave me with the sr9 and my uplula, the Ruger device is in the original Ruger case both of which i don't use, the uplula and the sr9 are both in my range bag and i prefer it way more in loading multiple 17 round mags.

Just my 2 cents...

One of the best buys ever. I wore my thumbs to a nub loading 17 round M&P mags. Walther PPS, that is a real thumb buster + + +. I can use the UPLAon that mag also. saves wear and tear as well as MUCh faster loading spare mags.

I use an uplula for pistols and a lula for 5.56. When you get old and your hands are gone, these are lifesavers.

Mine came in the mail today. It looked a little complicated as to what did what until I just grabbed it and put it over a mag. Very simple, effective and easy to use. After one mag, the only thing to improve on is to load up the next mag quicker than the one before. Saves your fingers and thumbs if you will be loading rounds for training, matches, and so on. This thing is built strong and is as good or better than what you hear about it.
