inquired yesterday, you must shoot at least two of the 3 weekends to be entered to win a gun.
$15 to shoot once $35 to shoot three times but you can shoot as many times as you want.
Lewis system will be used to group shooters, no groups for gun class (sub, compact, full)
You can order your GSSF or armorers course guns there as well.

This is good news because I am off duty all three days and would only be able to make this weekends Mason shoot. For those who shoot these matches regularly, is it a friendly format for us who have not shot this format before? Will the COF be released prior to the shoot?

Thanks-

The COF is issued before you go on the range(at Total Firearms) Pretty simple stuff.

+1 on the "packed"! I was there right at 10am and it was pretty crowded. The score table was backlogged quite a bit. I felt bad for the one guy at the table - he was obviously a bit overloaded, but was certainly friendly and doing his best.

Even though it was crowded, they got people through fairly quickly.

I had fun today...even bought a new gun with my armorers discount (glock 17).

I shot my 26 for the first round and got a 474, on my second two rounds i shot the brand new 17, scored a 472 and a 479, I cleaned the A target on the 479.

What a zoo. It took two hours to shoot three strings. I thought I'd be in and out within an hour based upon my experience at Total Firearms. Wow was I wrong.

Anyhow, I shot

463 24x with my 26
483 31x with my 17
475 26x with a friends 35

The one at total firearms was definitely a little more organized than this one, but Matt was definitely busting his @$$ scoring targets.

I scored 489/35X with my G30. Coulda, woulda, shoulda been a 494 because I let one rip when I really wasn't ready and that shot totally missed and was worth only 5. I felt pretty good with 100/8X at 25 yards though.

Your B target was amazing that round. I did o.k. for my first time. Those 50 & 75 ft targets killed me. Hope to be shooting a 34 next time out though so should be a little better than with the 19.

were you the one looking at a 34? wearing the fire fighter shirt?

I agree the 75 yard target killed me, the 50 isn't that bad.

i need to get into reloading so i can load up some good target loads for my 35. i was actually rather happy with my last b target, i figure if i replace the stock plastic U sights it should help. looking forward to march 19th.

does anyone know if they post the scores with x count or anything?

Yup- that was me. I am hopefully picking the 34 up in the next couple of weeks. Should shoot a little better than the 19. I just have to get out and practice the farther shots and I think I will be o.k.

the first fliers they had printed had the incorrect date. they had been corrected with white out, my guess is they didnt fix it on the score sheet yet.

I went later in the day this time but two people scoring did make things go a lot faster. I saw a couple people shoot 500s and I was even shown how to hold my gun properly... I'm pleased again.

479 - 26x
466 - 25x one failure to feed (weak mag spring)
479 - 28x

Hey guys I'm looking forward to going to the April shoot. I'm not a member but I would like to join at the door. Will I be issued the GSSF certificate at the door also? Or will it come in the mail? I just bought two GLOCKs so I'm not in a hurry to get another (or so my wife thinks).:lipseal:

Or should I just mail in my info now to make everything easier?

I'm assuming if you sign up there you will not get the certificate at the door. The range will just process the application and send it to GA. When I joined GSSF (late last year) via phone/fax it did take over a month to get my packet in the mail so you may not receive it in time for the match. I'd like to hope 5 weeks would be enough time but you never know.

you may not be in a hurry for new a new gun but its one of those things that just happens...

I have two recommendations. First, you can't win anything. You have to shoot in two of the three competitions to be eligible to win a prize or to place in the competition. Your entry fee will simply be a donation to the Firing Line. The only thing you will get is experience competing in GSSF.

Second, if you are going to compete, sign up when you get there. It will take over a month for you to get your packet. That will make it hard for you to sign up for the competition that you can't compete in :headinj:

If I were you, I'd drive up to Duncan's in Bay City. They have two competitions left on 4/2 and 5/7.

Good luck!

Ok thanks for the advice. I guess I wouldn't mind shooting for experience. It never hurts. But maybe I will give the bay city events a try too. Thanks again.

Yes. As long as the sights are post and notch they are acceptable.

From the Glock Report 2011 (http://www.gssfonline.com/glockrpt/2011_The_GLOCK_Report.pdf) (the rules):

HH

40.30 Allowable Modifications to “Stock"
1. “Hogue Grip”-type sleeves, “A-Grip” panels, “skateboard tape” or other grip-enhancing materials that do not materially alter the function of the stock firearm
2. Slide and barrel stripping and/or refinishing
3. Pearce Grip, Inc. grip extenders only on G26, G27, G29, G30, G33, G36 and G39 magazines
4. Aftermarket replacement non-metallic base plates on magazines
5. Post and notch sights (“patridge” sights) excluding any sight requiring slide modifications. Please note that fiber-optic and “express” sights are approved.

You may use any combination of GLOCK produced firearms parts that do not result in a significant competitive advantage in the Stock divisions and that are, in the sole opinion of the match armorer, safe to utilize.

Next year go to Total's event. They gave away three guns and a ton of other stuff. They did the drawing immediately following the last shoot, in front of about 30 competitors. Duncans did it the same way, and gave away a lot of good stuff too.
