Lake Erie Metropark is holding its annual goose harvest on Sept. 1 and Sept 7. Applications are available at the Park Museum/Nature center. There is a $5 fee per application, but you can stuff the ballot box as long as you pay. Currently response has been slow, so odds are in your favor. The deadline (DEADline, how appropriate) for applications is 5:00 pm Sunday August 21. You will be notified, if succesful, on Saturday the 27th.
Any questions please call the Museum at 734-379-5020 ext. 5736
Best of Luck,
Mark

What are the gun/caliber restrictions? Is there a web site anywhere with more info?

All waterfowl laws apply. They have a couple of "rules" you must follow for this "special" one day hunt, but nothing that should keep you from applying. And you can take a "partner" with you (hint..hint) if you're lucky enough to get drawn.

No caliber restriction, Federal and state rules apply. In addition, there is a restricted zone of fire at each stand to avoid homes and the hunters on the next green. The hunt hours are 1/2 hour before sunrise to 10:am. I will be at work this wed and thurs, call if you have questions-734-379-5020, ask for the museum. This information is late, as my boss didn't want to much publicty. But now he is on vacation, so anything goes! I will drop off some applications at the front office so those who may not wish to pay the $4 entry fee (Non-pass holders) just to get an application.

I was thinking about trying for the draw but was wondering, how the heck do you plan on hunting these things. They won't/don't usually fly so are you gonna shoot them on the ground or sneak up and pistol whip them to the dinner table.

Have to be there by 5:30 AM, so it sounds like I get a shoot at them on there way into the golf course.

The last couple of days I have noticed the honkers flying around a bit more. Probably getting into shape so they can fly to each shooting postion
