OK, maybe this isn't the right place to ask the question, or maybe it's been answered before, but............. Can one use +P ammo in a Stainless Taurus Public Defender?:deadhorse:

NO!
Actually, buy some Corbon +P 335gr HCL loads and let me watch you shoot them from around twenty feet away...

For the benefit of the dumb new guy in the room... Why not?

What does the manual say? My dad's Taurus specifically says not to use +p in the manual.

Neither of my Taurus manuals say anything about +P , just as long as it's SAMMI
One is a 22 that says not to use high or hyper velocity ammo
The other was a 9 that was prone to frame cracks with +P , but Customer Service said it was OK ,another Customer Service Representative said no way would he shoot +P out of his Taurus.
So roll the dice , it's a crap(py) shoot

I forget what model my dad has but I know on his it does specifically say not to use the +p ammo.

I was wrong:
http://www.taurususa.com/pdf/revolver-manual.pdf
Page #9. It just says that it could be dangerous and could effect the life of the gun. I guess it does not specifically say "NOT" to but i wouldn't.

Which is what the manual says , what I think , and what some CSR at Taurus think and say

There are actually two kinds of +P ammunition. There are the SAAMI loads, which are loaded to a certain pressure above standard pressures. Good examples of these are 38Sp, 9mm, 45ACP and 257 Roberts. Then there are loadings with no +P pressure limits set, such as 45LC and 45/70. In these cases, it just means that the ammo is loaded to higher pressure, but how much? Corbon themselves, in their FAQ section of their website, says that their 45LC +P loads are only safe in revolvers that are also available chambered in 44 Magnum. I've shot some out of my 625 Mountain Gun and it's no fun.

PS "+P+" doesn't denote any specific pressure. It just means that it exceeds SAAMI +P pressure limits.
