Come out to DSC in Utica (Dequindre, North of M59) for the MUCC State Shoot. Rifle, pistol, shotgun events.

Pistol you need 48 rounds, any gun legal for Deer in MI [.38 or larger,
I believe only straight walled cartridges are allowed, ie lower zone legal.]
No ammo 'power factor,' reloads OK.

There are separate divisions for iron sights and scopes, shoot individual or 2 man teams [or both.]

Offhand stance, 2 hand hold:
Course of fire: 12 shots each at 10, 15, 25 yards all on same target
12 shots at 50 yards on separate target.

50 yard target is black sillhouette, short line target is Bianchi style white 'tombstone.'

Not certain but I believe sighters are allowed before each stage.

Just cause you don't hunt does not mean you can't compete, almost any decent 1911 is capable of firing a winning score on this course. Most other carry guns are eligible (except .357 Sig!) although they may have a wee disadvantage at 50 yards!

Check DSC website (Detroit Sportsmans Congress) or call 586 739 3500.

I'll be there Friday afternoon, competing in both the scoped & unscoped pistol category. On Saturday morning, I'll be there competing in the archery division. I'll be representing DSC this time, when I posted about the State Shoot several months ago, there was little interest in forming a MGO team. Ah well, maybe next year.

I will be there Sat. nite for the MUCC Dist. 8 meeting, probably in the range building. Any MGO member is welcome to stop by and say hi. or even sit in on the meeting at ~7 p.m.

This says something good about the shooter too!
I'm sure I'll have some paper between the holes, but I'll give it my best & have fun while I'm at it. Pray for NO RAIN!

So how'd our "defending champion" do?????

Well, I lost my Ladies Freestyle Archery title to my shooting partner, Vickie Ford. She also took the Ladies Individual High Gun/pistol title. But, together, we took Ladies Team High scoped-pistol and Ladies Team High unscoped-pistol. So, Vickie took 4 of 4 possible awards she went for....I took 2 of 4 awards. But, if I had to give up my crown, at least it was to my shooting partner!
I haven't seen the final standings so I'm not sure where I came in on the individual scores.
