And one Bay County hunter already has his trophy pig.

It was last year when some wild boar escaped from a Midland County game ranch. When you see the size of the one killed in Bay County, you can understand why some people are getting concerned.

Nathan Rosenbrock and his brother knew right way what was scaring the family's pigs at their parents northern Bay County farm late Friday night.

Rosenbrock was able to kill the menacing beast with his rifle. It weighed more than 400 pounds, stood as tall as the front end of his pickup truck, and was getting ready for a pig dinner.

Nearly two years ago, a number of wild boar escaped a game ranch in Midland County. That type of pig is not native to North America, and the Department of Natural Resources didn't want them to get comfortable.

Wild boar can destroy plant life, kill trees, cause vegetation problems and put the scare into other animals and humans as well.

Hunters in the affected counties have been given the green light to shoot -- without license -- any wild boar they come upon.
