"Frozen Chosin is a 200-yard commemorative match honoring the brave men who fought in extremely severe weather conditions in the battle of the Chosin Reservoir in Korea during November and December of 1950. Held in December, this match is restricted to M1 Garand Rifles and M1 Carbines only."

There are usually people at these matches who are happy to loan a rifle to a willing shooter. Not sure about Cap City, but some clubs own rifles that can be used by people who do not own one of their own.

Capitol City has several rifles. You might want to contact Jack Huntoon, club president, you can find his contact info at www.ccrifleclub.org but hurry because this match fills up pretty fast.

Roger that.

I like getting out in adverse conditions and playing with rifles...it gets you out of your comfort zone.

Tony, come on out. The first time I shot the Frozen Chosin, I used a borrowed rifle. There are a bunch of people that have spare ones there. My son Jordan and I are going to share my rifle.

You don't need much more than a mat. Wear warm clothes and come out to the match. CCRC supplies ammo and lunch for your match fee. I hope to see you there.

What is the course of fire?

I don't recall the round count but we shoot timed prone, rapid prone, timed sitting, timed kneeling, and rapid offhand. No shooting coats, shooting gloves or slings used.

No kidding, the 4th, huh? Even though I still suck badly, I was gonna give it a try, but I'll be in Chicago that weekend for Michael's graduation.

Well, John..guess you get your gun back.

Don't supposed you're having any spot-related illnesses?

You can call Jack Huntoon, club president, at 517-626-6846. This is a very popular match and slots fill-up fast.

Sorry I missed you Gary. I was relay 4, target 4. I didn't do that great either (337) but it was my first match with this rifle. After the sight in shots, I needed to make a small change in elevation but went the wrong way with the sights which caused my rapid fire prone to all be way high. It was fixed after that and the rest went pretty well.

the Kneeling and Sitting killed me. I have bad knees and even doubling my shooting mat, they still hurt like crazy.

But, its for fun right

Good to see you too Lance. Brad and Jordan Benzing were there also. It was a good time with 44 shooters. I shot 372 which isn't bad for me but the kneeling was my undoing, but hey, I beat Gary!!! . I lost too may points there.

You need to come out for our CMP matches next year and the ID4 is a lot of fun. It's limited to WWII weapons and earlier.

John, Gary, Chris, it was great to see you all. Jordan and I had a great time shooting. We got there late, right at 10 because it took us 2 hours to get there in the snow. We went right to the pits. It was nice while we were out there, Jordan had his coat off most of the time.

We shot on the last relay. I was happy with the 417 that I carded. Like Gary, the rapid kneeling killed my total. I just couldn't keep the rifle on the target. I also managed 11 out of 16 in the Rattle Battle. That's 16 rounds in 50 seconds at an IDPA silhouette. Jordan shot a 198 with a borrowed Carbine. We were planning on sharing my Garand but getting there late put us on the same relay.

Its just a matter of Practice, Practice and More Practice
