No deer for us yet in St. Helen area. Been kinda on the down side for last 5 years - ever since the over-the-counter doe licenses. Seen on the board here where some did ok but sense a lack of excitement as opposed to other years. Anyone else have good/bad hunting reports?

I have killed three deer so far, from two different locations in southern Michigan.
I have seen more deer this year than last, and many more bucks.

Southern MI is the place to go. The annual trek "up North" is all wrong.

I was up this side of the bridge on 55 acres of private land and never saw a track

I was seeing bucks during archery season (out of bow range), but come Nov. 15, they disappeared. My hubby & I took does on the following Saturday and as we field-dressed them, noticed that they were both still producing milk. I would think that indicates a late rut.....since I'm pretty sure they stop lactation when they're bred.
Anyway, we're going back up for muzzleloader season, not sure which days. I have two vacation days left and have to schedule our final mortgage closing on the house up north. HOPEFULLY, I can coordinate it during the smokepole season.

Dad and I went out only saw does in the U.P.. The last day of season(black powder) we empied out the guns in the sand pit and on the drive home saw 11 doe and 1 little spike. Had to look over the No Trespassing sign to get a good look at it from the road.

The hubby and I just got back from 3-1/2 days in the Oscoda area muzzleloading. He saw 3 does....I saw NOTHING but turkeys. I'm sure glad we took those two does earlier in the season. At least the freezer's not empty.

I must be hunting in the wrong place. I opened up the blinds of the doorwall this morning and there's a scrape & a rub on a 4" pine tree about 25 yards out the back door. I think I'll bring my bow up into the family room and wait for him to come back!

I have shot 3 does from my property near Moorestown and another 2 does from my sister-in-law`s parent`s property near Deckerville. It has been a very good season.
