The apps are cool, I use them myself, but they are not (imo) trustworthy enough to use at matches.
Both of the ones you listed are good though. I had a pocket pro 2, and it was good to go.
I've used the Pact's, they're really nice too.
If I ever buy another stand alone unit, I want one of those small thin ones that have a strap for putting on your reaction arm. Maybe someone can chime in and remind me what they are called.

I have a pact and CED 7000, I use the CED a lot more becuase its so much smaller and easy to use when your alone.
I use the pocket pro twice a month at matches, they are nice too, clip it to your belt and it will record your shots just fine.
I've used various timers at matches and they all seem to work fine. Some are bigger than others. I like timers that show the last split and draw time right on the screen instead of having to push a button to see it. I ended up buying the CED 7000 and use it with the rotating belt clip the most. I use the par feature a lot for dry fire practice and it works great. I bought the wrist strap too but find it feels a bit awkward when trying to draw quickly or do reloads.
Both http://www.cpwsa.com and http://shootersconnectionstore.com carry them for the same price. I've ordered multiple times from both places and have gotten great service from both.
