If you want something fun to do this Saturday May 21, from 10:30AM-2:30PM, Condition Zero Training Group is offering an introductory Land Navigation Course in the Grand Rapids area. Here's the blurb from our website:

Never rely solely on GPS to get you somewhere; batteries die and data can be off.

Learn the basics of land navigation using a simple compass and topographical map, then learn how GPS can be used as a helpful tool.

This class includes:
-Introduction to topographical maps and magnetic variation
-Utilizing the lensatic compass
-Dead reckoning, back azimuths
-Performing intersections and resections
-90* offsets
-Plotting a route
-Reference points
-Attack points
-Determining your pace count
-Estimating travel distance and range to reference points
-Night navigation

Requirements: lensatic compass, basic physical abilities, gear for light outdoor hiking, GPS if desired
