If you want something fun to do this Saturday May 21, from 10:30AM-2:30PM, Condition Zero Training Group is offering an introductory Land Navigation Course in the Grand Rapids area. Here's the blurb from our website:
Never rely solely on GPS to get you somewhere; batteries die and data can be off.
Learn the basics of land navigation using a simple compass and topographical map, then learn how GPS can be used as a helpful tool.
This class includes:
-Introduction to topographical maps and magnetic variation
-Utilizing the lensatic compass
-Dead reckoning, back azimuths
-Performing intersections and resections
-90* offsets
-Plotting a route
-Reference points
-Attack points
-Determining your pace count
-Estimating travel distance and range to reference points
-Night navigation
Join Neal and get a free water bottle and mini topographical map of the area. You'll have to sign up to find out where we're headed. This is one of our introductory classes and is priced at only $25.
Requirements: lensatic compass, basic physical abilities, gear for light outdoor hiking, GPS if desired
