Stupid, stupid, stupid idea.

10 year olds are not mature enough, nor focused enough to handle guns in this manner. The law allows 10 year olds to hunt "with a mentor" who is not in direct supervision of them, but rather, just near them.

I am PRO IIA and PRO HUNTING (I hunt), and I have taken my younger kids with me, but setting them free with a gun and other lives on the line?

NO, WRONG..BAD!:bs:

:flag: Again It should be a parents call, not every 10y/o is the same. I was fully capable with MY .410 shotgun at 10.

Exactly. I like this law, it should be up to the parents to decide if their child is ready or not.

I see this as a good thing.

When I was 10 I would spend hours in the woods stalking red squirrels with my pellet gun. I had been shooting since I was big enough to cock and shoot my grandfathers Red Ryder BB gun. And no, I never put my eye out.

My uncle frequently took his son out with him while he hunted BEFORE he was 10. Needless to say, my cousin is now an avid outdoors man, and hunter. I would have completely trusted him to be the one with the gun when he was that age, however, he just sat and enjoyed the outdoors!
