Hi All,

I just got my CPL and have been researching my first handgun and finally settled on a XD 9MM Sub-Compact.

BTW, I live in Oakland County and bought it in Auburn Hills.

When I bought it at the store I was told I had to take the two copies of the RI-060 form to the Sheriff's office at the county building???

I thought I could just take it to my local PD?

Where do I have to take this thing?

Thank You

You don't have to take it anywhere.. You can just mail it in.. Mail it to whoever sends a squad car when you call 911.. Does your city have it's own PD? If so mail it to them, If not mail it to the sheriffs Dept..

If you have a local PD that is where they go. If you don't the copies go to your sheriffs office.

Pontiac still has a PD, but permits must be taken to Oakland County. It is not always so simple.
Post 2-3 are correct in most cases.

he bought it in auburn hills, he needs to send it to his PD,or if he has no PD, to the OCSD.

What he said. I normally take it in though, I like the piece of mind.

Ok, I saw on your intro thread that you were from RO. That is where you would take (or mail) your RI-60 forms. To the RO PD.

I work about 3 miles from the PD so I dropped it off during lunch this week. Walked right in, they sent me into records, they made sure they could read the form, and that was it took all of 45 seconds.
