They must know how deep the object is, or they wouldn't try it.
....I saw something once right out in front of my house that I'm sure I'll never see again.
...My neighbor and I were out front, on the lake side, and watching an eagle soaring and circling over a spot in front of us, over the lake.
...The eagle then went into a dive, and as he almost hit the water, he pulled up, and snatched a duck in his talons, that had just resurfaced. The best part is that the duck had a small bait fish in its mouth as well.
...A true double header!

Looks like the first catch was 2 or 3 fish!! I wondered how the bird would do-would it 'flock shoot' that mess of fish and get zero.. Father taught him good.
