Class: Ground Survival 1

Date: August 28th 2011

Time: 10a-6p

Cost: $100.00

Location: Korean Martial Arts Academy
3216 Wildwood Ave.
Jackson MI, 49202

Instructors: Keith Denman, Tony Cruz, Brady Bostain

Anyone has that is experienced in defensive encounters will tell you that most end up going to the ground. Fighting on the ground brings a unique difficulty in defending ones self against an attacker.

This class is going to teach you how to survive a fight that has gone to the ground. The techniques taught in this class are techniques that have been used by all three instructors in real world situations.

This is not a martial arts class. This is a raw and realistic look in to what it tales to survive on the ground.

Topics covered in class:
-Proper defensive posture from both standing and various ground positions
-Transitions from standing to ground and vice versa
-Movement on the ground
-Take down from standing (forward moving attacker)
-Escapes from 5 most common ground positions

As in any LDT class we may cover much more depending on class flow and skill set of the students.

This class will be very hands on and physical. As with anything physical it is recommended that you wear cloths that you dont mind if they get dirty or ripped. Regardless of dress an athletic supporter/cup is recommended.

If students sign up for both the Edged Weapons class on Saturday and Ground Survival on Sunday, we'll take $25 dollars for a total of $175 for both days.

I am also a little sore, I will be ok though I rubbed some dirt on my wounds.

I really enjoyed meeting and training with you Brad, And look forward to seeing you in a class in the future!

Both the Edged weapons and Ground survival classes were outstanding for me, (mostly because my ground game is seriously lacking in the skill department.)

I learned a bunch of, (new to me), techniques, and...........well, I will start working on the AAR's for both EW and GS tonight.

Huge thank you to Keith, Tony, and Liz, you guys worked hard to bring these classes to us, and it really showed, good job.

Oh and BTW, don't let Barbs good looks and charm betray you guys, she has an incredible will to survive and the strength to do what is necessary to win......;)

Oh, yeah, I looked like a bad ass limping and whimpering through this mornings work out..hah.

Good class, a lot of useful techniques for getting out of bad situations. The instructors recognized that most people there carry and adjusted techniques to fit that. They also suggested not carrying behind the hip in case you're knocked over before you can draw but also taught to retain and protet that side during a ground fight.
