Marty and I will be offering a CPL course on May 6 in Howell. The course fee is only $130 and this course meets and exceeds all Michigan requirements for a CPL. Marty and I take great care in making sure each student receives the best instruction and individual attention necessary to get the most out of this course. This is a one day, 10 hour course, and the range fee is included in the course fee.

We are offering a $10 per student referral fee for those who refer students who complete the class. Arrange a private class, and receive a free class. (We have several classes to choose from). Also, group discounts are available for those signing up with a friend, and every contributing member of MGO, M2A or SAFR automatically gets $5 off the class! Sign up now or tell your friends!

Email me at pistolinstructor@charter.net to register or for more info.

Rick Buckner is going to be hosting the class on his farm, which always adds a really personal touch to the class. I'll send you the address if you like in a PM since it's a private residence. It's about 5 minutes north of town, just for a reference.

Jim Simmons will be presenting the legal portion of the class, which includes a cd-rom with Jim's outline and firearms laws.

Thanks so much!

I've just got to chime in here. Rick's place is a great venue for a CPL class. The day, although a long one takes on a very friendly and fun tambre as well as having a gracious host and excellent range time.

Thinking of coming out for it, Kane?
You've already got your CPL so I'm not making a crack, just asking what you have in mind.

I'm thinking he's looking for a place to shoot his 50.

I just want to see that .50 drawn from concealment!
Seriously, you don't think that "BOOM" would scare the bejeezus out of newbies?

Better to scare the bejeezus out of them in a controlled environment than when they really need to have their wits about them.

It's all up to Rick, though. Well... and his neighbors. ;)

That gives me an idea!
I'll save it for a more private discussion.

That's the day of the walk-through for FFD at the gun club.

what time is the walk through? And is this a .50 cal like in your avatar.
We have 80 acres Im not so sure the cattle or my neighbors would like that. I would like to see it and shoot it but If its alot louder than my 30/30 Im thinking i would have some pee'd off folks around here.

Well, I'm sorry Barb, but we scheduled this class back in the first week of January, and no one ever asked us if that day would work for us for the walk through. I suspect any day you picked would have been a problem for someone, but just so you know, that's what happened. We have had to put a lot of classes on hold for various events, and were careful not to schedule the class the same day as the FFD and other events we knew about at the time. We love being involved, but we can't keep holding our breath wondering if we picked the wrong date for a class because there might be a meeting or something scheduled. I finally just had to pick the dates for the year and hope for the best.

Invite the neighbors to shoot the new toy. Not a lot you can do for the cattle.

Yep. Exactly the one in my avatar.

And yeah... it's a lot louder than a .30-30. A LOT.

Think it over, talk to your neighbors, let me know. I'm fine either way.

It wouldn't be half as bad for the neighbors as the time Kane fired it from behind me (it was in a safe direction) and I wasn't expecting it.

I would imagine you either came outta your skin or soiled your pants.
I always wanted to fire one Im thinkin the township would come down on me for not having some land use permit or some stupid thing. I wish i could use the gravel pit by me for shooting i know the guy but he is a odd duck.

The walk-through was set up at the kick off meeting January 14th, but I don't think there was an M2A representative there, so we didn't know and just had to schedule for what worked for those there. As you said, you were there last year. It would be helpful if you could have someone from M2A there for the walk-through but its not necessary.

Yes, I recall that. We were unable to attend that meeting because M2A was teaching a child safety class at the time, which again, had been set up months in advance. That was a really big class too! However, Mike T. was kind enough to say that he would represent us there. Anyway, we'll see what we can do about having a rep there on the 6th as well. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Resounding success....at least for me! :) Thanks to Marty, Karen, Rick and Jim for taking the time to plan and administer this class! Nice to put a face to the name :)

That was my first actual class! I have sat in on a few of Karen and Martys classes but this was my first as a certified instructor. I was a tad nervous but I think we all had fun while learning some stuff. You would think we all knew each other for years. while it has actually only been 3 years I've known the Knoll's but they seem like old friends.
I'm going to be boning up on my shooting and my tactical skills a bit. You notice I didnt shoot around Karen.. She's alot better than I ("WAY BETTER") So I didnt want to look the fool. Glad you enjoyed the day with us.

hehe...I hear what you are saying :) I, too, need to hone up on my tactical skills...especially dodging some of the cow patties, Rick! ;) hehe... thanx for opening up your house and land for the class/range session. BTW, I was hoping to see how your new S&W M&P shot...maybe another time.

P.S> Good Job on your first class as a cert instructor!
