Attempted Carjacking Takes A Turn
Two People Hospitalized
April 21, 2006
WDIV News 4

An attempted carjacking took an unexpected turn Friday morning when the driver of a car produced a gun instead of handing over the keys.

A man with a gun attempted to steal a vehicle in the parking lot of a party store located on the east side of 7 Mile and Sherwood roads.

When the gunman approached the driver of the vehicle with his gun, the driver also produced a gun and shots were fired.

The driver of the vehicle has a concealed weapons permit. The two fired shots -- one from each gun -- and both men were hit.

The carjacker and his would-be victim are hospitalized.

Hopefully the driver will come out of this all right.

And, hopefully every bad guy will read the article and think some.

See??? We were warned about this.... Shoot outs in public places. Two men in the hospital...
If we didn't give permits to everybody that takes a class & has never done anything wrong and pays the money.... This poor carjacker wouldn't be in the hospital fighting for his life. Probably we wouldn't have to be paying the medical bills for the victim either... He might be dead. No expense to the public then.

Shootouts in public are a very real thing...

Kudos to the victim, nice surprise to give to the carjacker. Just remember that most of us will likely have more range time and training than some ***** on the street. :)

I should give a plug in here about Gary Sikorski's weapon retention training. It's a great class and teaches you how to protect yourself physically before you pull the gun and then if and when the fight is on and the "bad guy" (i.e. stupid idiot) tries to take your gun from You.

I'd also like an update on this article. Pulling for the "good guys" as usual. :)
