Here's my latest Detroit Gun Rights article on today's Attorney General ruling that allows Michigan residents to own silencers.

Michigan AG ruling now allows Michigan residents to own firearm silencers (http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-detroit/michigan-ag-ruling-now-allows-michigan-residents-to-own-firearm-silencers)

"Many Michigan gun ranges may soon get quieter as Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette today issued an opinion that Michigan residents may own firearm silencers as long as all Federal laws are followed.

A firearm silencer, also called a suppressor, reduces the sound of a firearm's discharge noticeably. This reduces the danger to the shooter's hearing caused by the report and also reduces the ambient gun shot noise in the area."

But ... but ... but ... doesn't this mean that all of us will suddenly turn into James Bond style assassins ... who will begin killing people indiscriminantly?!?

Wasn't someone thinking of the children?!?

If anything, a suppressor would help an AK cycle, due to the increased back-pressure. It's just handguns with moving barrels that have issues cycling with a can.

I can tell you that an AK makes a poor suppressor host. It's a loud gun, no matter what you have on the end of it. Like loud enough that you still want to have ear plugs in.

And it becomes pretty muzzle-heavy as well.

That's one that has been on my "want to do some day" list for a while now.

Currently, I've got a Spanish Destroyer carbine at the gunsmith's getting threaded. I told him no rush, but this might change things a bit.
