Mark, how long does the match take?
I'd like to try and get the match in before a BBQ that the wife has planned for us to attend.

All depends on the number of shooters in each group. Plan on a few hours though.

The plan is 5 stages including 1 classifier.

We used to do 6-7 stages, but got complaints about the amount of time it took to get done. Not to mention the match setup / teardown crew burnout.

Like Mark says.... it depends on the number of shooters.

Figuring 10 shooters per squad and 5 minutes per shooter (including scoring and reset), that's 50 minutes per stage. 5 stages is a little over four hours. Now if the squads are smaller and everbody hustles we could be done in 2.5 hours.

Legal mumbo-jumbo:
(Your mileage may vary. Batteries not included. Closed circuit track with experienced driver - do not try this at home.)

Starting at 10, figure being done by 2, hopefully earlier.

74 shooters. Good match, albeit a bit warm. Everybody seemed to have a good time.

A holiday weekend, nice weather and GUNS! It doesn't get much better.

To those of you that made it out - thank you for participating. For those of you that couldn't make it - hope to see you at the next match.

With more stages the squads are smaller and the match gets over sooner. One then also spends more time shooting and less time waiting for a turn.

Two years in a row at the Single Stack Classic we shot 12 stages by lunch time, between 8 AM and Noon. 6 shooters per squad.

More stages, smaller squads. True.

But you need enough setup crew and the foresight to know how many will attend. Just two weeks ago we had 10 people show up for a 5 stage shotgun match. Hardly worth the effort, but you never know that until match day.

We were planning on 50 shooters on the high side. Oh well.

Mark, if I'm not mistaken that match was on Mother's Day. Poor planning!!

Oh, I know that Mark and I didn't mean to make you the fall guy. (We'll blame Jeff for that! :-) ) I do think that we need to give a bit more thought to scheduling though.
