im getting one in 9mm. Nice addition to my other NFA toys. Might even get one in .22 depending on how effective the 9mm is at muffling .22

No use for one at this time
Plus for the price of one suppressor I can get rifle or two or a pistol or two

Way too expensive, just to shoot holes in paper. Ear plugs are free from my work. On the plus side, its nice to have the option to own one potentially. Moving in the right direction

I would highly suggest that everyone plan on getting a dedicated "car gun", and silence that gun.

Go to state land, put on your hearing protection, and then discharge a round from your vehicle. You'll get the point.

Go to state land, put on your hearing protection, and then discharge a round from your vehicle. You'll get the point.
Then:

Try to explain to the CO that everything is OK
Get arrested
Have your firearms confiscated
Have your vehicle impounded
Have to hire a lawyer
Have to fight the charges so that you will even be able to own a firearm

You get the point?

Don't try this on state land! If you get caught, you will be sorry!

Cite please?

You can't hunt from a vehicle, and you can't shoot from a moving vehicle, but I know of no other restrictions.

There is no reason that you can't target shoot from a vehicle, the pit would be a good place for practicing vehicle defensive tactics, as long as its done safely.

It appears that a 30db reduction would be about what can be expected. From about 160db to 130db with a dedicated supressor. That happens to be the db reduction of my headphones. I shot a 9mm silenced auto at Chewy's gun shoot and it seemed the brass hitting the floor was louder than the shot itself.

I am thinking about picking up a Ruger Charger to get registered, but funds are going to be a bit shy for some time to come.

No laws have changed still got to jump through a butt load of hoops and pay a but load of cash to the goobermint .You or I should be Abel to just pick them up as the same for buying grips or gun sights I don't get it :wtf: nothing has changed ?????????????

This is the law that needs changed and Intel caution before buying .

The possession, manufacture, or sale of a firearm silencer is permitted in Michigan under MCL 750.224(1)(b) if the person is licensed or approved to possess, manufacture, or sell such a device by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as required by MCL 750.224(3)(c). Possession, manufacture, or sale of a firearm silencer by an unlicensed or unapproved person is a felony, punishable by up to five years imprisonment under MCL 750.224(2).

I would NOT touch this with a 10' pole at this point an time

Getting the legislature to change it now shouldn't be too difficult. Toss in the silencer petition, for some frosting.

Do some reading and come back. Prior to Friday only class 3 FFL's could have a silencer in MI. Now anyone can once you pay the "tax". It's the same as any other state that allows individuals to own suppressors. Not saying I like the hoops you have to jump through but it's a heck of a lot better than not being able to own them in Michigan (which was the case only a few days ago).

stainless1911

We should start contacting people who sell silencers, many will not ship them to Michigan.

I'm of the opinion that a silencer would make an excellent addition for any home defense weapon.

Guns are really loud indoors.

Ruck up, Nancy.

No matter how you ruck up permanent damage is to your hearing that can't be reversed. I would like to keep from doing any more damage if possible. Anything over 140 Db creates immediate damage. Considering a .22 is about 160 Db indoors you can see why hearing protection is needed.

Comments like this are a big portion of why we don't get many new members. Here's a good site to read up on the damages caused by loud noises. I'm sorry that you don't think your families hearing is worth the price of another firearm. You probably believe their safety is though...

Take a look at what's available in the USED SUPPRESSOR market. Generally speaking, once you buy one, it's yours for life.

a suppressor is good for your ears, as someone in the militaryall my friends have permenant hearing loss

I have tinnitius since fourth grade (but my hearing is off the charts how dod is that? in truth, it used to be even better)

nothing works for a muzzle break better then a suppressor.

I'm getting one for my Home defense carbine right now. If I can afford it soon I'll have one for a 1911 . i will use the one for the rifle for all my rifles (getting a .308 to save money) and the .45 acp will be used for 9mm as well I should think. Ideally I'd get a .22 lr one down the road but that might just be a surefire micro to cover 556 enough to save my ears.

I could care less about them, they seem wayyy tooo expensive. Ill spend the money on lots of ammo and make some noise.

I guess they would make a nice extention to use your gun as a hammer, when you run out of ammo.
