Is this correct? is there anything else that needs to be done?

A lot of people don't know this, but you can legally build your own silencer. This is assuming you can legally own a firearm. In order to build your own silencer, you must first fill out a Form 1, get finger printed, fill out a citizenship form, get your chief of police to sign the Form 1 and send the ATF a check for $200 along with all your paperwork. You can download all the forms from the BATF website or from TITLEII.COM

Yes that is true. The AG legalized buying and manufacturing your own suppressor. Basically the same process still applies except you file form 5320.1 instead of 5320.4. You can only make the suppressor AFTER you get your approval back from BATFE!

Looks like this is the route I will be going... machinist in the family he will help me with design and materiel ideas. I can do the machine work myself.

They are already out there, we are not the first state to have legal suppressors, we are late to the game, the designs and prints are out there everywhere.

I read once in silencer book for the sten, it said for a proper silencer design the volume of the silencer needs to be 9 times greater than the barrel of the gun. then wrapped with steel wool and and oiled. With that design using sub sonic ammo they were able to get the sound down to the sound of the bolt cycling. why is it this design isnt used anywhere else?

Some of us pop that off in a couple of hours. Depending, I can pop that off in much less. I would be redoing my suppressor every time I cleaned my guns

Required markings:

Serial number
Model
Manufacturer's Name
City, ST of manufacturer.

Letters have to be 1/16" of an inch in height and I think .003" deep.

Your local CELO will more them likely not sign of for an individual to build a surpressor. They prefer to keep that done by class 2 manufacturers.
