As most of you know by now I bought a Rock Island 1911

is this thing like a car???

what I mean is

AFTER you take it apart and give it a deep cleaning should you have extra parts?

the big 3 are famous for parts you really dont need but what about my new Gun?????

yeah the springs are optional :D just like they are for drum brakes

The RIA is a series 70 style gun so there are no extra bits that can be left out.

Nope. While you may wish to leave out the "70" parts, you can't, unless you put in the cheater parts.

Sprink, you are thinking series 80 stuff. There is a way to leave those out with a spacer. On a Kimber series II there is a way to remove the Schwartz system firing pin lock as well but the 70 series has none of those extra firing pin lock parts.
