View Full Version : Another Suppressor question

The suppressor that I want may not even exist or may be out of my price range but I need help looking for it.

I would like ONE suppressor to use on many guns including 5.56 AR, 5.45 AR and many 22lr pistols and rifles.

First of all can I do that (run 5.45x39, 5.56 and 22lr in the same suppressor)?

I would need one that I can take apart and clean because of the 22lr's and the corrosive 5.45x39 ammo.

Second question:

Lets say that the one I am looking for above doesn't exist, or cost too much.

Could I buy a "sealed, fully welded" suppressor and drop it in a ultrasonic cleaner?

Would this damage it? Would I need to apply some kind of oil internally afterwards?

Any thoughts?

You should be able to run a .223 suppressor on 5.45x39 and .22lr It will get dirty fast with the .22lr though. AR barrels are threaded 1/2 x 28 as are most .22lr, don't know about 5.45 but you could get it threaded if it wasn't.

I would get one that you can take down. Throw it in the ultra sonic cleaner after you disassemble it.

Your full blown .223 can will be heavy and bulky on a .22 pistol for example.

Gloofy is right on the mark. You can use the same suppressor on 5.56 Nato and 5.45. No problems.

.22LR is a different beast. It's dirty. A 5.56 suppress can and will suppress .22lr very well. But it will dirty up pretty quick with the lead and lube with extensive .22LR use.

Personally, I would get two suppressors. One for the bottle necked cartridges, and one for the .22LR.

If you insist on getting a single suppressor then you should look at a suppressor like the Tac16. It is a 5.56 suppressor that can be taken apart, but even Tactical Innovations doesn't recommend shooting 22LR in their 5.56 suppressors.

A .22lr can and a rifle can is a good idea, but if you wanted to do everything with one, a 30cal can would probably be the way to go IMO.

That way when you buy a 30caliber rifle it works on that, and you have less worry of .22lr use because it's huge.

The downside? You're probably relegated to rifles only with the .22lr application. Unless of course you want to two hand carry your pistol.

Corrosive 5.45x39 is really nasty though, it may be worth making sure your ammo is not corrosive.

I don't know HOW I forgot about these suppressors. If you are looking for a 5.56 suppressor that does double duty on a .22, then consider the offering from Liberty. http://www.libertycans.net/constitution.html
