Steve, need directions to the facility and a quick list of what to bring (beyond the carbine, ammo, pistol, holster and ammo). Also, so I can keep the family happy, when do you suppose we will be done +/-?

This will be great cause I had to cancel on TDI's carbine class (which starts tomorrow) due to work!:|

I ran my Beretta Storm at the class last year and it ran more reliably than most of the AR 15's. Can't complain about that. 8)

Steve: Is there room for me . I have been to your level one carbine , pistol, and shotgun class. I have shot IDPA for two years and thus have improved my pistol handling. How late would we go?

Ok Steve, I know I was late comer. Let me know if people drop out and I can slip in. I'm on vacation that week so I'm flexible. Plus I wanted you to make fun of my 10 pound heavy barreled Ruskie VEPR. You could make fun of my drooping shoulders as I fatigue from the weight.

That was one amazing class! The Finale was spectacular!! Three Waves Of Death!!!

The teamwork drills were really impressive.

19000 rounds...you know, we may have missed a few brass...I thought I counted it all afterwards....but I only got to 18652...

I did notice that a few of the guys had grins so wide that they went completely off of their faces.

Dont i wish! i really do! iam working on things but capitial is an issue!! and land!

good shooting on your part,

one thing we noticed in class was the adj that shooters had to make to there gear.
vfg needed to be moved in closer, slings needed to be adj. thigh rigs needed to be raised and re postioned, pouches on vest and belts needed tweaking.

and holdover gets alot of shooters in trouble as well faliures to scan

For educational purposes, what brand was the bolt that busted and was it in an M4 or mid-length upper?

RSF
07-24-2006, 02:27 PM
M-4 Bolt unknown.

the best i have found so far for bolts have been,

Wilson, colt, i have a few older bushys that have held up well, over 10's of thousands of rounds dpms has been hit and miss as well as. i have a few spares i carry from lmt and wilson in my range bags.

no to be fair this gun has been run really hard in 2 of my carbine classes and a few matches. i was asked why such a high round count? well to insure repetion and to test our gear! we had several rifles go down with minor issues!

Just looking at the pix I see alot of AR's , maybe a socom, a romanian AK with a cobra red dot. Since I own a Cobra red dot, how did the the cobra hold up? Were there any onther guns there like a FAL or high end AK ? Also , I see wolf ammo cases in the "brass" pails. Did anybody run .223 wolf or was it all 7.62 or 5.45 ? What a great way to stress your equipment. Did you have to call the fire dept for Batman's "white" hot barrel and is it damaged. BTW, did you wear you "Syd" suit.? "Enquiring minds" want to know.

RSF
07-24-2006, 09:15 PM
No sid suit, the ak and cobra ran ok this was its thrid class with me!

2 M1As
rest were ar-15 including a dept 10" colt
there was a ton of differetn ammo there as well most wolf was 223

i think his barrel survived iam not sure about the throat though

Lee,

The AK/Cobra worked fine, I switched to it when my AR stopped extracting. I can't remember having a malf with that AK ever.

Reliability aside, the AK can't compete with the ARs; reloads take longer, safety placement sucks, trigger reset is long, and the added recoil affects double-taps.

Unless environmental conditions are horrible, I'd consider the AK plan 'B' (excluding the FNC).

RSF

Good thoughts there Ken,

lee
07-25-2006, 09:45 AM
thanks all for the responses. Wish you all had room for me. I really wanted to try out my equipment and test it out. Reloads do take longer on the AK but I 'm thinking of putting in a "tactical release" lever operated by the trigger finger. The safety sucks------------when alone, I just don't use it but thats only when alone. The Heavy Vepr with muzzel brake has very little recoil compared to the Romanian. Of course this is just talk--------- got to be put under pressure to see how it "really works" I was hoping to use my AR-180-b for the first half-----afraid the barrel would burn and warp and then switch to the heavy barreled VEPR.

Nope I finished cleaning her up last night and all is A-OK. I oiled the barrel and the dark park reappeared.:) Throat is also OK. RRA builds nice stuff.

yeap, his 9mm rra worked pretty good i recall a few ftf with it though! at least due to not running the charging handle fully reward or something like that nice little gun though
