I picked up a new rifle rest & all I can say is WOW! This thing is rock solid, the directions for assembly aren't too bad, & does it ever absorb the recoil!

The rest weighs 22 lbs, I added 50lbs of lead shot, add your 8lb gun & you have 80 lbs that doesn't move. It even absorbs the recoil from Remington Buckhammer slugs.

It is a little pricey, but should last for the rest of my life & Caldwell is easy to get parts for. It was 199.00 at Gander Mtn & after looking online, I wasn't really gonna save anything & I didn't have to wait for shipping :)

If you're looking for a steady rest to sight in your guns, I highly recommend this one.

I love mine too. While I don't sight the weaponry in that I used to, those things really take the black/blue out of trigger time AND for some, actually reduce the number of rounds expended for a sight in.

They are also great for patterning turkey blasters and other shotguns with heavy loads which I believe are worse than most rifles.

I have shot from other rests, but never had one tame recoil like this one! My dedicated slug gun is ah Ithaca lightweight & even with the HEAVY recoil Rem Buckhammers.....nothing!

It is heavy to move around, but very much worth it.a

I love mine, especially since shoulder surgery it has made sighting my magnum rifles in so much easier.

Everytime that I use this rest, I'm still amazed! Should have bought it when it first came out, but I'm a tight wad ya know!

That Caldwell sure is nice. I came so close to pulling the trigger on one but I need mine to double as a good gunsmith vice so I went this route. Looks pretty slick. Should be here by the end of the week. I got the vise and shooting rest for $187 shipped.

There's a cool youtube vid on it.

Looks nice. For me things have changed from when I was younger looking for one thing that I could "make" do multiple things, now I just buy specific to my needs. It may not be easy for everyone to do that & sometimes it's not for me, but when I do get what I need, life is easier & more fun :) Enjoy!

it is not even in the same league as a DFT for a bench rest aid.

Not even close.
