The Monday ofter the AG's Announcement my buddy and I called and ordered two OutbackII's from Sheridian Arms in Saginaw.

They Took our Credit Cards, about two weeks later we both received Receipts for the cans. You have to buy the supressors first so they can get the serial numbers off them to fill in Fill in Form 4

October 27,2011 I received the Form 4 , partially filled out, a fingerprint card for the NFA, a request for a check for $200 made out to BAFT&E, and a request for 2 passport quality photo's.

Today 10-28-11,Went to CVS, got Photo's($10.00), Went to Livingston County Sheriff got Fingerprints($15.00) and Chief Law Enforcement Officer(CLEO)'s signature. All was completed and dropped off at the Howell post office sent First Class before 11:00am, so it should have gone out today.

My buddy has not received the Forms yet, this may be do to recent change of address.
I have wasted no time in getting this turned around, it just happened to be my day off today and I had time to get it all done.
Now it is a wait and see, Sheridian says expect April 2012 before the Government gets this turned around.

Will Advise

The day after the AG opinion came out, I got online and ordered the Osprey from a dealer in Ohio. It was the last one available as others in Michigan were doing the same thing. Transferred it to a NFA dealer here in Michigan. Sent in the paperwork on October 7th. The check was cashed on October 12th and current status is "pending" as of October 21st.

Christina Farris will be handling the NFA paperwork for Michigan per this (http://www.atf.gov/press/releases/2011/06/061711-firearms-nfa-supplemental-information-geographic-distribution-of-nfa-applications-for-processing-by-atf.html) letter from the ATF. Her average turn-around time is 137 days per NFATracker.com (http://www.nfatracker.com) which is the slowest of the ten examiners.

If the stars align and the paperwork passes muster, it looks like Valentines Day or so before the tax stamp arrives.

The photo was taken at my dealer.... yes it shoots very nice and the CTC laser clears the side of the can. :-D

Essentially, you just find a Class III dealer who has what you want. Plunk down your money, and fill out a pair of form 4's (ATF Form 5320.4).

See this post (http://www.migunowners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=147121) on how I fill out my Form 4's. It may help you along.

Osprey is slower than molasses in the winter... apparently there was a huge surge in demand due to the AG opinion here in MI, 6 months later they still have not shipped one single unit to my dealer. So since you did not have a "waiting for dealer to actually get one" that is my catagory....

Don't feel bad, being one of the guys that got this started, i started in 2005. Got denied, and had my denied form 4 sent by my attorney to the AG. That ead thae start of a long an expensive process to get the AG to issue an opinion. A small group of us worked long and hard to get this through. Patience!

Not all of them are designed to be stripped down, many manufactures state some kind of life cycle in the 100 + K area but I often wonder about unfired powder and possible build up in the chambers, and what could possibly happen when you burn dirty ammo that spits a lot of excess....

We've had a steady stream of paperwork since before Sept 2nd for AOW's and machine guns, at that time transfers were going 4-5 months, by October/November it got strectched out to 6 months. I expect times to get better once we can clear through the surge, but there is a general buying frenzy where our suppressor manufacturers are having trouble keeping up.

We've opend our our lines of distribution to further improve the availability of suppressors through us and enhance our stock suppressors, but I'm buying all a lot more than I've sold because it is taking much longer for me to get them compared to my restock orders in September/October were taking. I spoke to AAC friday, they said they are manufacturing/shipping 100-200 per day and still not keeping up and are seriously backordered. Same deal with Gemtech when I spoke to them but some items are stocked without a problem.

I posted last week, I've already seen two suppressor approved form 4's to my customers, so they are moving and there appears to be no other shananigans to hold them up.

Dont hesitate to give the shop a call as I can help with details on specific model numbers that will be tough to get versus other model numbers that are more available. Even if your from outside of Saginaw, dont forget I can just mail the paperwork if your local dealer is out of stock.

If you sign up on our email list at our website, www.sheridanarms.com I can also provide more timely updates as to what's going on in the class 3 world and events for those who want to stay closer in touch with our Sheridan Arms events. All our full auto shoots now have suppressors available to help those get a better feel before they buy something by hearing (or NOT!) one first.

Hope this helps

Phil

Got the call yesterday, by my calculations that makes about 6 and one half months (6 months -16 days to be exact) from the day I sent in the Form 4.

This includes however long it took after I got a reject letter, saying I missed a square.

Not happy with the turn around, but it is exactly what the guys at Sheridian told me it would be.

Just in time for chipmunk season.
