I had this small seven come in, make a scrape at 18 yards and leave. He made the mistake of returning an hour later and I decided he would be perfect for the freezer. I didn't see the arrow flight, but he bolted after the usual thud of a solid hit. I located my arrow and noticed some green tinge mixed with dark blood. Time and temperature was on my side so I elected to allow him to sit overnight.

I wasn't too happy with my decision to let him lay when I awoke to heavy rain and thunder. I ended up doing a morning hunt and returned to the location in the afternoon.

I brought a friend for a grid search and we found him piled up approximately 200 yards in a direct line where I seen him enter the woods.

Now that I have meat in the freezer, I can hold out a little longer for a wall hanger.

Sorry Who Dat, but there are plenty more roaming around for you

New bow and empty freezer sealed his fate. My Michigan archery season ends this Friday when I head to Canada for 7-10 days of hunting.

'Til then, I'll hunt hard the remainder of this week for something much bigger.

Perfect exit with impact to leg. 85 grain Montec G5 @ 318fps

I failed to mention he came in with two other smaller bucks, but chased them away before racking the scrape. There are bigger roaming that spot. You will have fun there.

That stand wont get hunted again until you show up on the 15th.

He looks to be about the same size as the one I had to slow down for driving on a two lane the other night. Came out sauntering out of the woods, all full of himself.
