Have Kimber pro covert 2 and was looking for a quality threaded barrel so I can get a silencer. I have tried some Google searches but would like to hear from some one with personal experience.

never used a threaded one, but have used Storm Lake 1911 barrels, and they have performed VERY well...

also, here are some links to that same topic.. and various makers/reviews

1911 barrels should be fit by a good gunsmith. Any 6" barrel can be cut back and threaded. KKM makes a nice barrel and will CNC thread it for a suppressor.

The trouble you will run into is since you have a 4" bushing-less barrel you will need a 5" tapered barrel and cut back to the necessary length and thread.

You will need to do some homework on your end. First mic the muzzle of the existing barrel and thats the O.D. required for lock up. It must be the same O.D. on the new barrel- as long as the taper matches up at the locking point accuracy will not suffer. So it is possible you`ll just need to find a 5" barrel that matches that dimension at the 4" point.

Hope you understand the point I am trying to make- if not please e-mail or call and I will go into greater detail.

Please keep us posted.

Ah yes, the 4" bull barrel... KKM can still make you an exact match with the proper threads on the end. Just call them up.
