I just drove up the road past Cook Lake in Livingston County, and there wasn't even any ice on it yet. I don't know if smaller lakes freeze slower than large lakes. It's only 6 acres FYI.

Man, I was just gonna post a thread like this myself. I'm in Livingston County too and it's all open water. I'd imagine that the only people in the state that are ice fishing are the yoopers or those north of Saginaw. I'd appreicate an ice report from whoever is in the far north.

Sure you can. If there is no open water, how are you going to ever ice the fish?

cant wait for the ice around here, I am happy being a bucket sitter for the pan fish. although this year my son wants to find some place within a reasonable drive from here to find some perch. Any ideas??

Forget the SE corner of MI. Too many power plants down here to make ice. You know that.

I live on the largest lake in Clare County. We have an average ice thickness of 6" but for some reason very few fishermen.(probably the really cold weather)

Well, went out on Wolf Lake for a couple hours this afternoon and got skunked. A couple friends were out there at daybreak and limited out on gills by noon and then it shut right off. Oh well, it was still good to be out.

Fished Houghton Lake on Saturday. About 8" of ice where we set up and a lot of slush on top.

We only caught a couple small pike.

Most lakes up here have shantys on them.
