Thank you to all the members that stepped up to fill out the roster this year.

For each shift that you have volunteered for you will have earned 1 entry for the 2012 MGO Gun of the year.

And for anybody who can help get out fliers for MGO about this event please take a look at this thread;
http://www.migunowners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=163874

Note; parking is $5.00 and parking is in the north west side of the building right by the door you must enter to pick up your badge, the floor plan link listed above has directions to the booth and also shows where to enter.

Here is a link to The MGO booth worker video presentation I encourage all working the booth to check it out.

Two articles, listed below, one the short version, the other a full article, both by the author Alan Korwin (used with permission) It might give you a perspective on talking with people about gun rights, that are really civil rights, take the time to check it out, I hope you find it helpful.

Great,
Well pick out the time you want to work and I will put you on the list.

Working the booth is handing out fliers and talking to people about MGO, who we are and what we do and the about the shooting sports and gun rights.

Again the worker video will help you to see what is needed to do and reading last year's thread should help to get a feel of things from feedback from those who worked the booth.

It is really cool to see people volunteering, especially those who may not have done so before.

On that note, do we still have that training video available that goes over what to expect when manning the MGO booth? Or did that go obsolete? If it is still available it might help to lessen any potential anxiousness from someone new, and if someone on the fence about volunteering could watch it maybe that would help them make their decision.

If my badge could read with my forum name "Amigo" and have my given name "Morris H" on it that would be good.

Not trying to hide anything. Proud to be a Michigan Gun Owner.

How early can I get there. I'm signed up for Thursday 12-4,

Badge setup, the show starts at 2pm, so noon is plenty early, it is just so we have time for any last minute touch up to the booth before the show.

Thank you for the help!

THANK YOU to all the volunteers! SeeTee looks like he has the biggest group we have had.

If anyone got in too late and would still like free admission for working a few hours, the NRA has called and desperately needs help with their booth. Contact Kelly Hart at 703-789-1625 she is now on the ground in Michigan and looking for help.

Any questions, send me a PM I will check in the forum each morning.

We will have water and mints at the booth to help keep everybody talking, as for food bring a lunch or there are several food venders at the event, If you are into jerky, you will be in heaven, many venders for that, and types that I have never seen before.

If you are a MGO member going to the Outdoorama be sure to stop by the booth and don't be shy, introduce yourself. ( we will not put you to work)

I want to take this opportunity to thank all those that made Outdoorama a success for MGO. From Carl (SeeTee) who headed up the operation to Mike Theide (Tallbear) who set up he hunter safety to all the volunteers who worked the booth. You guys ARE MGO!!! I cannot adequately express how grateful I am to all of you. It is people like you who will insure that MGO continues to be a leader in educating the public about shooting.

Thanks again,
Jeff LaFave
President

Another Outdoorama finished.

My sincere and deepest thanks to all the MGO crew that stepped up to man the show.
This year there were not any no shows,we had over 100% attendance, how? one volunteer came in and did extra shifts, and one member came up at the show on Thursday and asked to help out, he came in on Sunday and stayed on to do the pack-up.

Speaking of Sunday 2nd shift, it was an all new guy (new to working an MGO event) crew that jumped in and did an outstanding job, they all stayed on to carefully pack up all the MGO supplies and equipment, job well done guy's!!!
Then there was the brass counting crew, another job well done.

But really everybody who stepped up did a outstanding job, veterans and new guys alike, the new guy's got to see a different face of MGO then that of just being behind the computer screen.

New this year MGO co-sponsored the field day portion of the Hunter safety course, helping more people to earn their certificate and keep the tradition of hunting strong in Michigan.

The display was improved from last year, we did a few things different, we will work on improvements for next year, always trying to do a better job each time.

I think attendance was a little down some, in particular Friday night, probably due to the uncertainty of the weather, but we still handed out a considerable amount of MGO information, talked to many people about about guns, and helped them find resources and services to fulfill their needs and filled out many petition sheets.

I am not on the prize committee for the .22 contest, so I don't know what will be given away or how many prizes places, but I can say that first place came within 9, second 35, trivia note both entries on the same contest sheet, there was a tie for third place at 42 again both tie entries on the same contest sheet!

The 2012 crew, in no order, without who the event would not be possible!
