Second Amendment Weekend at Cabela’s in Dundee, MI
Join NRA-ILA Headquarter staff February 10-11th, 2012, for a weekend of important grassroots education for gun owners. 2012 is undoubtedly the most critical election year ever for our Second Amendment rights and we must redouble our efforts to guarantee victory on Election Day. Please make plans to attend NRA-ILA’s FREE Grassroots Workshop and NRA University to learn what you can do to become a better activist in the fight to protect and promote the Second Amendment!

NRA-ILA will provide you with the materials and strategies needed to educate, empower, and engage your fellow gun owners as well. Please encourage your family, friends, and fellow firearm owners to attend, too!

NRA University (NRA U) is a training seminar geared toward college students interested in learning more about NRA, the Second Amendment, and the real facts surrounding the gun control debate. Attendees will receive a complimentary one-year membership to NRA, along with hats, t-shirts, and other important materials.

Senator Mike Greene-31st district-MCRGO-R As a State Representative, Sen. Green sponsored the original legislation which led to Michigan becoming a “shall issue” state for concealed pistol licenses. In his first year in the Michigan Senate, he has proposed major reforms of the CPL system, an outright repeal of “no concealed carry” zones, and a common sense change to the definition of pistols in Michigan. Gun-owner rights remains among his top priorities.

RACIAL ROOTS OF FIREARM REGISTRATION
If you live in Michigan and own or want to own a handgun, you will be familiar with Public Act 381 that is the firearms law covering the purchase and ownership of a firearm in Michigan.
Perhaps the names Clarence Darrow and Frank Murphy sound familiar to you. How about Dr. Ossian Sweet?
It is because of a court case in 1925-26 involving Dr. Sweet and his lawyer Clarence Darrow that came before Judge Frank Murphy that Michigan adopted a "purchase permit" law for handguns.
