This suppressor thing is intriguing, especially if it may permissable for hunting.

Is there a thread which lists step by step procedure, costs, methods for securing the proper licensing and then getting the right one installed on a firearm.

What I am looking for is the A, B, C's of Suppressors I guess.

If it is already posted somewhere, sorry--I guess I missed it.

Visit the Gemtech, Silencerco and AWC suppressor sites and view the FAQ's. That's a good place to start.

Thanks.

But I quickly found out that 200 bucks a pop just for the permit is too rich for my blood.

I wrote a step by step on filling out the Form 4 transfer tax. If you should change your mind, the link is in my sig.

Did you really think you were going to be able to get a suppressor for less?

200 bucks for the permit, 200+ for the suppressor, however much to modify one or more firearms to accomodate it (??) and they aren't even legal to shoot critters with yet.

It is the whole package that is cost prohibitive for me right now, I guess I just didn't have a clue.

Given the MI DNR's propensity to "stop poaching at all costs", I highly doubt that you and I will ever see hunting with suppressors allowed.

I don't know about that. I believe we will be hunting suppressed by the 2014 season in Michigan. (Personal opinion.)

I would be happy to be wrong about it!
