What are the options out there for .22lr transferable MG's? I was thinking about a Mac-11 and a .22 conversion.

Tippmann belt-fed 1/2 scale replicas of Browning 1919 and 1917 machine guns (M2 is 22WMR).

Ruger 10/22 with Norrell trigger pack (there are two types, both work well, one looks like a totally stock trigger group externally, make sure you get the anti-bounce bolt either way).

American 180 (Tommy Gun-looking drum fed SMG... drum sits on top of the gun, 180 (I think) or 255 (IIRC) round capacity depending on the drum (some are metal, some are lexan (plastic)).

Eric Graetz at Lakeside Machine in Arkansas services Tippmanns, E&L Manufacturing in Oregon services 180s these days, and John Norrell, well, still services registered Norrell trigger packs.

M11/9 with Lage .22 is fun. And cheap for nfa.

I've heard those likened to dating a supermodel: You spend hours getting them loaded... just for a few minutes of fun!

I held out for a while for Lage to release his .22 conversion for the M11/9, starting around 2006. I finally gave up and got an Uzi, as Vector was selling .22 conversions at the time.

Later, I got an A&D adapter to use the AM180 drums with the Uzi. It runs okay, but not great.

Lage eventually released his .22 conversion, so I got one of those as well. This was doing some function testing.

I have this setup with the max 11 upper, the barrel gets bulged every time I shoot it and it costs about $110 round trip to have Lage press it out of the 9mm barrel. It runs pretty good but after two or three trips I'm afraid to put it back in the gun.

shoot better ammo with it. Don't have that problem in a K or two.

What ammo are you using?

Lage kits in a Mac11/Nine are great. I have one of each (Max-11 and standard Mac upper kit). I also enjoy shooting an FA HK416 with a dedicated .22 upper.
