Who in the state of michigan can own a full auto?

Pre '86 registered Full-autos can be owned by anyone who can get a tax stamp for one from BATFE.

Post '86: BATFE Class 3 Dealers and qualified government entities only.

You can legally own Machine Guns of specific years, if you have an FFL for a Curios and Relic license.

You don't need a FFL or a C&R license. You need a lot of money and to be a US citizen who is able to pass a background check. You should buy one from a dealer who can help you get the paper work done right the first time so that it doesn't get kicked back.

Be advised, there hasn't been a transferable MG made since 86 so supply and demand makes them very expensive.

pgaplayerless,

If you had the "Firearms Curios or Relic" book supplied from the BATF, which is given to FFL Curios and Relic Licensees, and read Section III, you will see some NFA weapons were removed from the NFA list and classified as Collectors Items and classified as Curios and Relics under 18 USC Chapter 44.
If you will see the note below Section III, it will direct you to Section IIIA, which lists on pages 47 thru 55 specific NFA weapons as well as machine guns, which are defined as curios or relics defined in 27 CFR 178.11 because of their dates of manufacture. Transfers must still go through a NFA Dealer. However licensed collectors can still acquire them as curio or relics.

I do not believe there is ever a single FA on that list. All of those are non-FAs removed from the NFA registry (due to their barrel lengths they were on it) and they do not need to go thru NFA dealer....

If you buy a Pre-86 AK are you allowed to convert to FA as long as you pay the tax/do the paperwork?

not unless the AK was a registered FA prior to 1986.

There are many fully automatic machine guns and sub-machine guns on the C&R list. A few that immediately come to mind include the Reising M50, S&W 76, some original Sten's, many Thompson's, and Maxims. I know the list includes many times more than that which I can't think of off the top of my head.

UMMM yeah....NONE of those have been dropped from the NFA registry.....They are still NFA, just C&R and NFA, and still must be transferred on Froms 3/4.....
