GSM Master Clinic Instructors Dennis Kurowski and Scott Smith will be conducting a CMP-authorized Garand-Springfield-Carbine Clinic and Match on 3/31 and 4/1/07 at Chief Okemos Sportsman's Club in Dimondale, MI.

GSM instructors have been specially trained by the CMP and are qualified to teach Garand-Springfield-Military Rifle Clinics, which consist of intense classroom instruction, followed by a CMP-sanctioned match.

The Clinic is scheduled for Saturday March 31, 2007, with the Match held the following day, Sunday, April 1st. Attendance is limited to 30 shooters since the range has limited space.

On Saturday, arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 am for the classroom instruction which begins at 9:00 am.

On Sunday, squadding begins at 8 am with the match starting at 9 am. Match course is the John C. Garand Match Course A, which consists of 35 rounds fired in three stages from 200 yards: 5 rounds sighters, 10 rounds slow fire prone, 10 rounds rapid fire prone, and 10 rounds slow fire standing.

Ammo: 30.06 ammunition will be provided, however, Carbine shooters must furnish their own ammunition.

Equipment required: M1 Garand rifle, M1903 or 03A3 rifle, or M1 Carbine, with sling (web or leather); also bring shooting mat or ground cover; shooting jacket; and spotting scope. (If shooting Carbine, bring your own ammo.)

Cost is $30 for Clinic and Match. Space is limited to 30 applicants. Pre-registration is required. Bring your own lunch both days.

Yes, everything one needs to know to participate in a CMP highpower match, whether at Camp Perry or at home clubs, designed for the Garand, Springfield, or military rifles. Basic info on use and loading of the several rifles, loading enbloc clips with 2 or 8 rounds, different ways to hold the rifle, use of slings, getting in position (offhand, sitting, kneeling, prone), scoring in the pits using value disks, etc.

Read this article on a GSM Clinic held last year in Howell. It should answer your questions. There are plenty of pictures also.
