Hello,

I finally got the suppressor bug, and I'm interested in a quality .22 suppressor that wont' break the bank. So, any recommendations, or experience, from those of you that have suppressors already will be much appreciated.

So people know what I'm looking for:
-I'd like to get a can that I can use for both a .22 pistol (most likely a threaded Ruger) and a .22 rifle. The primary purpose/goal will be for backyard plinking w/out ear protection and quiet enough not to bother the neighbors (I'm moving to a place on ~5 acres where it's legal to shoot on our private property; and the neighbors all have at least 5 acres, too).

Also, are there cans available that will work for .22lr and .22wmr/mag? Ideally, I'd like to have a threaded rifle in .22mag (esp. if it's legal to use a suppressor for pest control?) and 1 can that will work on my .22lr pistol (and a threaded .22lr rifle too) as well. Is this possible (and legal -since I had a gun shop employee tell me that you had to register the can to/w/ 1 specific gun; which was the 1st I'd heard of this, plus the gun shop where I was told this doesn't deal in/w/ suppressors)?

Thanks in advance for any input

AAC Element or Element2 is compatible with .22lr, .22mag, .17HM2, .17HMR

Look at the CZ 455 or the Sako Quad. They have interchangeable barrels.

Try looking at a SilencerCo Sparrow SS also, I'm very happy with mine.

Also you DO NOT have to register it to a specific firearm. I have 4 guns I use mine on.

A client told me about this company. www.silentrx.net

The company currently only has a .22lr suppressor but their centerfire suppressors are coming out soon. My understanding is if you order one suppressor they will send TWO to your dealer if he agrees not to charge you a transfer fee as a way to promote their company!

I went with a new company called Huntertown Arms. I ordered a 22 Kestrel and a 556 Kestrel.

Having experience with these suppressors, I can tell you they have a good prodcut for the price.

I know almost nothing about suppressors. Out of the ones mentioned so far, how are they for cleaning (from my limited research, it seems that .22/rimfire cans get dirty quick and ease of cleaning is important, esp. for heavy/frequent use -which is why I'm getting 1)? Also, how quiet (or really any additional information on peoples can recommendations is much appreciated) are the cans mentioned?

Thanks for all the info so far; please keep it coming.

Thanks

I was told by other ppl if I was to only get 1 suppressor to get a 22 can. It would have to be user serviceable as they get dirty. The huntertown suppressors are user serviceable. So if you did get the 556 can, you could use it on a 22 caliber and still clean it. I went ahead and ordered the Kestrel 22 and Kestrel 556 as they were cheap enough. New company, sounds quiet on you tube. I did hear good things but I'm going to wait and have my own opinion.
