Has there been any progress made in this state in that direction?

The Commissioners were thinking it over last I heard. I received a letter from one of them stating as such after I sent them all a letter about it. No word since.

Out west they are popular on varmint rifles.

I can see alot of advantages for owning one but, not so much without the ability to hunt with it.

Planning on loading sub-sonic ammunition?

Am I correct the sonic crack will still be subtancial if not?

A can would still tame the DBs down even if its supersonic.

I would like to see a ruling soon. Supressors would be great for hunting, especially cyotes/varmints on private property at night.

I understand the reduction in DB, but I personally see the benefit on a hunting rig while shooting supersonic, other than the cool factor.

I agree with your second statement. I have no plans on applying for a can until they allow their use for hunting. If permitted, I will looking at a SSK Whisper catridge for my Encore.

For yotes on private and public lands.

Yes - it still makes the sonic crack when shooting supersonic ammo. What you don't have when shooting suppressed is the "boom" that goes with it.

What is interesting is that the sonic crack does not start to form until the bullet is 10' or so in front of the barrel. So unlike the "boom" that happens inches from you face, you get a sound that is generated several feet away from you. Depending on what objects are around you to reflect sound back at you, it sometimes sounds like the shot is coming from several yards downrange.

So yes - it still makes a loud sound. But you can often shoot safely without hearing protection when shooting supersonic / suppressed, where you couldn't do otherwise.

You can help make progress by expressing your interest to the members of the Natural Resources Commission. (Please note that the members have changed since I previously posted the addresses elsewhere.)

What would be the penalty/charge if someone (who lives where it is safe and legal to discharge firearms & hunt on their private property), was to use their legally owned suppressor to dispatch a nuisance species while it was causing damage (i.e. a raccoon, etc. that is trying to break into your chicken coup for a midnight snack)??

This is a primary reason I'm considering a can. I'm hopefully moving to a place w/ my buddy where we can keep some livestock and shoot on our private property; in addition to being able to freely target practice w/out disturbing the neighbors (I got a couple threaded .22's for just that reason), I figured a Can would easily be worth the cost if I'm able to use the 1 Can not just for for increased target practice w/ my 15-22 and 45/22; but esp. if I were to get the heavy barrel on my Savage 22mag threaded, if I'd be able to just use the same 1 Can to dispatch destructive pests that attack our livestock/chickens at night w/out disturbing the neighbors, as well -Tho, obviously, I won't be "hunting"/defending the coup w/ a Can if it's illegal; but I would still love to know what the crime/charges would be, and what laws prohibit this?

Thanks in advance for any answers
