Anyone find any "deals" on some safes? Would like to find local stores in Flint where I could pickup. Nothing too large, will be moving in the near future so I do not want to have to move a large safe twice. Maybe 10-15 long guns. When is the best time to buy and find clearance prices?

I haven't been there in awhile but Bullock's usually has some "scratch and dent" type deals.

Dunhams is a junk store. Try the following:

http://www.ablesafe.com/

The other good bet is Duncans in Bay City. This is where I bought my safe.

I second Ablesafes. They carry real safes made by Liberty.
The ones on the floor in the sporting goods stores are not very
secure.
If a one really nice rifle with scope is worth almost
a grand or more, does it make sense to buy a $600 safe?
You get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for.For many: Yes, it does.

Most safes provide a moderate amount of protection, whether by way of fire resistance, keeping guns from nosy children, or just because having a moderately priced safe is BETTER than having NO safe if it comes down to price for someone who can't afford to drop $3K-4K or more on a safe.

Beyond that, if your justification is that a $1K gun/scope needs a several thousand dollar safe, then why not forego the safe and just carry good insurance? ;-)

I'm not sure why this thread was resurrected after being dormant for three months. I'm sure that the OP made his decision quite some time ago. However, since you asked; check out Tractor Supply if you have one near you. Good prices and good service.

Second for Tractor Supply. They just had my Cannon 6040 on sale this weekend for $699! I paid $899(also on sale) there a few months ago. Figures. Still a great value for that amount of money...
