This is a short review on the sharpening service offered by Sjcootie. I am a huge fan of Strider knives, but they have thick stocks and come from the factory with an odd angle which makes them difficult to sharpen (especially if you already suck at it) I have spent hours trying to refine the edge on my Strider's especially the tanto bladed ones. Now insert Sjcootie, I was recommended to him by RSF, which was good enough for me.

I gave Sjcootie a call and he quickly met up with me to receive the knife, he had great communication, he even went to as far as to ask what purpose or role the knife played. I received the knife back from him today, his turn around time was very quick (less than a week). I now have the knife in hand and let me tell you it is really sharp, it easily shaves hair, and combined with 3V stainless steel construction the edge should hold quite well.

In summary, Sjcootie offers a great service which includes an awesome price, quick turn around and awesome customer service. I was about to send this Strider off back to the factory to get sharpened. It was proving to be such a pain, but now I won't have too, rest assured I will be sending Sjcootie more knives.

Price? Ive got an emerson thats got a tanto, and its a chisel blade flat on one side too so its a true PITA as well. Looking at getting a 'wicked edge" for almost 300 bucks and they are 4-6 weeks out for the new generation coming out.

Im a jealous *******. I wanted to do some digging to see what camera you're using. Flicker told me its a d7000, and that rotates priorities on the want list vs a suppressor or aow. Then comes the lenses and bags and cards and you're close to that $4k acog'd scar 17 heavy on here. Those 7000's are really nice rigs though.

Back on topic, i plan on getting with him. It will help me get by, ive been using a diamond rod i was recommended to and slaughtered the edge. It makes a good paperweight right now

Get a Lansky, can put 15, 20, 25, or 30 degree edges on good knives and not wear them out.

Get the 5 stone kit, it can put a polished edge on a knife.

$40 ~ $50 bucks with pedestal mount.

I've been using mine for 24 years.

Even the 3 stone Lansky does a totally acceptable job.

I currently have Zero (0) knives in waiting to be sharpened right now. All caught up for the first time all winter. I am coming into the busy season at work pretty soon but have some time if anyone needs a blade done. Please send me a PM for pricing and shipping info.

Thanks, Steve

Wow metl...that is a coolcamera that's can take pics like that. I can see the jagged edge of the blade even on my phone.

What machine/unique talent makes it worth shipping a knife outback for sharpening?
