Just wanted to let you guys know how happy I am with Springfield Armory. At our shoot last month I discovered my M1A was out of time as the front sight was cocked to the right a few degrees. I called Springfield and they sent me a Fedex label and I got it packed up and shipped on Friday 9/28. I got it back today all fixed, plus they fixed the operating rod that was really hard to remove.

I've had to use their customer service a couple times . They called me about one rifle I had sent to them , to them the rifle looked fine untill I pointed out the bent barrel they sent out . Now that was an oops moment :coolgleam: i had another one at camp Perry and they fixed it on the spot . I'm very happy with them .

Springfields warranty is the best, glad I have it, if I ever need it! You say your front sight was twisted?

It sounds like the barrel wasn't indexed correctly . With the Garand/M1A system the front sight fits on the splines and is supposed to be straight up and down when indexed right . A barrel under tightend would likely be canted to the right just a bit , other option is the splines were cut wrong and slipped past QC . I had a military barrel like that once .
