Michigan Gun Owners wish to express our deep hearted condolences to those affected by today’s tragic events. No words can describe what the family and friends of those lost must be feeling. The loss of life is always tragic and the loss of those so young only adds to the magnitude.

A lot of media attention, at the local and national level, is focusing on the weapons used to commit this tragedy. The talk of a weapons ban is always the first thing people say we need to do to end these type of events, when in fact it’s the person who commits the tragedy who is at fault, not the device used to commit the tragedy.

Our society has a problem and the banning of firearms will not prevent those wishing to commit these type crimes from doing so.

In 1927, 38 children were killed in a school bombing in Bath, Michigan. Today in China, 22 children were attack at a school by someone with a knife.

We need to focus on why people are committing these tragic events and what society can do to prevent people from acting them out. We as responsible firearm owners in the state of Michigan believe that this is the way to resolve events of this type and not through the banning of the devices they use.
