Would it be a bad idea to fire a .38 SPL round that the lead slug got pushed in further than what it should be?

Yes, Bad Idea. There will be extra pressure in the case and it might not end well.:spawn: (depending on how far pushed in)

if you had a bullet puller you could pull it back out a ways or completely and reseat it if it's not crimped.

The rounds in question are .38 SPL LRN bullets and got pushed about half of what normally in further and what I bought them for is a .357mag / .38 SPL Rossi lever action. I guess these rounds don't like to be put in a magazine tube one in front of another.

Definitely do not fire them. I've been researching .40 S&W load (more specifically 180gr) information lately and came across this page:

Google "CALIBERS -- Why the 180gr Bullet is a Bad Choice for .40 S&W" since I cannot post links yet.

According to that, bullet setback is exponential. Setting the .40 S&W 180gr bullet back 0.140" in total causes the pressure to rise from 26,195 psi all the way up to 138,744 psi!!

Are you sure the bullet was actually pushed back? .38 wadcutters LOOK like they are pushed back but aren't.

Thread is a year old. The guy before you is just trying to jack up his post count to get to 10 posts. Look at all his posts today.

Yep, I was sure back then and I am still sure now, they were plain jane .38 SPL LRN bullets.
