Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a better way to store my home defense shotgun so that it is secure but ready in a matter of moments. Ideally I think I would like a wall-mounted lockbox like the ShotLock (http://www.shotlock.com/SoloVault.asp) or Mossberg's Loc-Box (http://www.mossberg.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?preadd=action&key=95092), but with a biometric lock rather than the combination or key locks these models use.

I want something that is secure so that I can feel safe leaving the weapon loaded (unchambered) so that it is ready to use, but I don't want to have to worry about fumbling for a key or forgetting a PIN combination code in the middle of a high-stress emergency situation.

Is anyone aware of such a product, as I can't seem to find any?

Thanks in advance!

V Line in wall gun cabinet. Expensive but excellent. Not biometric, it uses a 5 button push keypad, no batteries. There are cheaper in wall units on the market.

Thanks for the info, but not really what I'm looking for. We're already looking for a heavy-duty safe for all-purpose storage. I'm looking for something in addition to that which will allow me to store just my HD shotgun in a secure-yet-accessible manner.

Protex makes a model that is the only wall mountable fingerprint safe (http://www.avidbiometrics.com/Biometric-Safes/) unit that I know of at the moment without having a custom safe made and fabricated into a wall. It's the FW-1814Z (http://www.avidbiometrics.com/Protex-FW-1814Z-Fingerprint-Wall-Safe.html), but it's only 18.25" high so it would only work for small firearms as it's too short for a shot gun.

I will not own any gun safes that use biometric locks. Their failure rate is too high for my liking. I prefer a Fort Knox safe with a mechanical Simplex Lock. No batteries to worry about and quick to reset if you enter the wrong code by mistake.

Here is one excellent design for trucks.

It is my understanding that they plan to come out with one that has the door on the long side so you can install it standing up in a closet.

Although not a biometric system, Tactical Walls has some interesting products. You may want to check them out.
Good luck.
