Due to the value of basically every bit of firearm related gear I own drastically going up in value lately, I'm in the market for a safe for my PMAGs and BCGs . Unless I can find a used TL rated safe at a great price, I'll be getting a RSC. Not sure the floors at my current home would support a real safe anyway.

At this point, I've kind of narrowed it down to the AMSEC BF6030 (http://www.amsecusa.com/Gun_Safes/BF_Series_Gun_Safes/) and the Sturdy 3627 (http://www.sturdysafe.com/model3627.htm) with fire liner. They're both about the same price delivered to my driveway (then, I'm on my own:banghead:). The Sturdy has a thicker steel (7 gauge body and 14 gauge liner) but uses ceramic wool insulation whereas the AMSEC uses thinner steel (10 or 11 gauge and 16 gauge liner) and a poured "concrete" insulation. The Sturdy has a 3/8" plate door and the AMSEC uses 1/2". They do have a few differences with the linkage design and the Sturdy is 55lbs lighter despite being 6" wider and 1" deeper. Does anyone have any experience with either or some tidbit of knowledge that could help me in my decision?

I’m also kicking around the idea of just buying a $500-$600 tin can for now and waiting to get a TL-15/30 or build a gun room when I get done with school and move.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have no experience with either, but I've done lots of research and comparisons, and the Sturdy safe seems to fit in line with my thinking. It'll be the one I go with for my first safe purchase.

most attacks happen on sides, I'd go with the sturdy most likely but both are good options. Do not base it on the looks but on the thickness of steel, weight, and amount of locks on door and mechanisms
