BASIC HANDGUN / PERSONAL PROTECTION
This course satisfies the requirements for obtaining a Michigan Concealed Pistol License.
What: NRA Personal Protection course.
When: Saturday, 24 November 2007
Where: Weaver Education Center / Livingston Gun Club
2440 Hunter Rd. Brighton, MI 48116
Lectures presented by NRA certified instructors.
Practical exercises conducted by NRA certified Range Officers.
You will receive:
· 8 hours of classroom instruction and live fire training.
· NRA Personal Protection Handbook.
· Certificate of training.
Highlights:
· Safe firearm handling, fundamentals of shooting and basic marksmanship.
· Avoiding and managing dangerous situations.
· Protecting against single and multiple threats.
· Physical and psychological effects of lethal force encounters.
· Legal ramifications of personal protection and the use of deadly force.
You need to bring:
· The gun you plan to carry and 200 rounds of target ammunition. We recommend a minimum caliber of .380. Note: The range we use prohibits .41/.44 magnum, .50AE, 500S&W and armor piercing / steel core ammunition.
· For autoloaders: at least three magazines and carrier/pouch.
· A holster. (no cross-draw, behind the back, or shoulder holsters).
· Eye protection (ordinary glasses are acceptable).
· Ear protection (ear plugs or muffs).
· A hat with a bill.
· A sack lunch. There are two pop machines in the education center.
Practical exercises are conducted outdoors.
Check the weather and dress appropriately.
