I've been living in the same apartment now for 2 years by myself and I will still be in the same place during my final year of college. My question is what would be a good safe that I can install and remove once I do move out of my apartment?

I have a shotgun and rifle with some ammo that I'm looking to store so I don't need a huge safe. A couple of my buddies have those stack-on cabinets and I was wondering if that would be a good option since they are light and easy to move once I get a permanent residence. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what your options may be since you are in an apartment.
I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to anchor it to the floor, unless you are on the bottom floor and Landlord agreed to it.

Would a Stack-On cabinet really be any better that hiding them well? If two guys could carry it out, mission accomplished, guns are gone.

You may have to look at the heaviest possible that you could put in there at this time, that would secure your guns and also make it tougher to carry out, though not impossible!! Just my:twocents:

I can anchor the safe to the floor that is why I was looking into the stack-on safe. For the time being I just need a safe that I can have for the apartment. When I figure out where I will live for the long haul then I can acquire a more appropriate safe.

With only a rifle and shotgun, just get one of those locking wall racks that lagbolt to the studs and stick it in you closet. Not hidden, but locked in....ill see if I can find a pic...

What is the name/manufacturer of this type of locking system?

Anything is better than nothing, but the Stack-On stuff usually won't stop someone with a little skill or determination.

We understand not everyone can afford a top quality safe, so our advice is to buy the best you can, bolt it down and keep it out of sight. Think of it in a closet with a long coat in front of it and some boxes on the floor in front of it. That will give you a chance that someone might miss it, and keep out curious/unauthorized people. Might.

You might want to also look into NRA "Arms Care" insurance (A certain level is included with your NRA membership). If someone is determined to get into a stamped steel box, you might be out of luck.
