MGO, MCRGO, MOC, MI-SCC & Second Amendment March, are going back to Lansing!
Wednesday October 9, 2013.

On the south lawn of the Capitol.

Let's get a good turn out for this event!!! Pass the word.
Wednesday was chosen because legislators will actually be in Lansing!!

This will be an opportunity for people to talk with their legislators, volunteers will have citizens guides and lap tops to help people find their elected officials. There will also be printed materials with a list of the top House & Senate bills for people to ask their legislators to support.

Parking: here (http://miopencarry.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=710075bba75b914b805e1861a&id=98a6e8c234&e=9578121741), here (http://miopencarry.us4.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=710075bba75b914b805e1861a&id=4d234aa23a&e=9578121741), here (http://miopencarry.us4.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=710075bba75b914b805e1861a&id=85671a7d5f&e=9578121741). The tentative schedule is:
8:30-9:30 Set-up
9:30 March down Michigan Avenue from Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol
10:00-Noon Lobby Representatives
Noon-2:00 Lobby Senators
2:00 Breakdown

There will be a tent area with a table for each of the organizations along with two organizational tables staffed with volunteers directing people to their legislators.

MGO will need a few people to cover our table, If you would like to help out send me a pm.
This is only for about 5hrs, so we will not need a large crew.

Volunteers so far,
Magnum Man - the first volunteer on the list for the MGO table.

OK Guy's looks like we are all set for the event, any questions feel free to send me a pm.

If you have a camera, bring it, lots of pictures are good!

It looks like the group could use a few more volunteers at the table directing people to legislators, if anybody is willing to help out in that area please let me know, it will be in the tent also.

I hope we have a good turn out!!

Let everybody know that you can about this event, this is good time to talk with your Representative FTF

Yes... you can conceal or open carry or both if you want to.

If you accept to ride along with me, this will leave room for 2 more people to ride from the west side to Lansing with me.

Anyone looking to carpool with me, shoot me a pm. All that I ask is for a little help with set-up and tear down.

Hi Tim, I hope people take you up on the offer to car pool, see you there!

Please for all MGO people attending, please stop be the table and introduce yourself, many don't do that and it would be nice to meet you and also get an idea how many of our people showed up.

Don't forget to bring camera's if you can, lots of pictures of these rally's are great to post on the net.

Who said I was not attending the rally? I just won't be there in representation of MGO is all. Feel free to ride along man. MGO has no bearing over my motivations to preserve our rights.

Marching from Penn Ave to the capitol?

So we are marching from Sparrow hospital(basically)?

That's a pretty long walk...are we mistaking Penn. for Cedar or Larch?

Just asking...

Thanks to everyone who showed up and volunteered. I missed the march and the speech, but there was plenty of people up there and I heard there was lots more before I got there...

Was good to see lots of familiar faces... I even saw Jeff LaFave...

I was -VERY- dismayed to see a gentleman pacing around with TWO shotguns, one in each hand. No sling. Just walking around with a shotgun in each hand. :coocoo:

I was happy to see lots of properly slung AR-15s and other rifles/shotguns.

It's too bad that the one whacko is going to be the one all over the news.

Well... It did get a mention on the Lansing noon news.
Said over 500 attended & expected to last until 2 P.M. with demonstrators seeing their representatives about Right to Keep and Bare Arms issues.

I made the 50 mile trek.
Saw some good guys and enjoyed talking with fellow MGOers.
Once again, I'm very impressed with (SeeTee) Carl's enthusiasm and dedication.
Missed my State Senator but did get to say hello to my State Rep.

The State Police were out in force but seemed very very bored. As it should be.

My Dad and I were there and saw that guy too. It looked to be a .22 and a shotgun but either way he did make us all look bad. We just kept watching him and waiting for him to leave but he stayed a while.

My understanding is that Phil saw him and was going to talk with him. I don't know whether that happened or not. I'd love to think there were 500 there but I really doubt there were more than 200. I didn't see Jeff LaFave but MGO turned out a nice size group of volunteers representing your organization. Your activities director is a great guy.

It's entirely possible I was seeing things as far as Jeff... but I was pretty sure it was him...

Yeah, I didn't see the initial gathering, but I feel like it was definitely more than the 150 that some news outlets are reporting...

Anyways, all in all a good day to hang out with some fellow gunnies.

One amusing moment happened when a gentleman with no knowledge of the history between MCRGO and MGO asked me why we had such similar names but were two different organizations. MGO's table was right next to ours and I sensed one of your guys was waiting for my reply. I came up with, "We have very similar views but different organizational styles and we're better off remaining separate yet working together as allies."

always great to work with you guy's it makes it a fun time.

To Phil, Brady ( I got it right this time!) Skip & Brian great to see you guy's too and working another rally together, I hope we keep doing things this way.

I have to make time get over to the SCC & YGM tables and get to know those guy's too, somehow the time just flies by, sorry I missed getting over there.

As for some of the other sights to see, I don't know how I keep missing that stuff!!

Brady, thanks for the good words & you know it actually happens a lot that people come up and start talking about one group when they mean another but it's all good & fast thinking on your part!

The most amusing thing I found at this rally compared to the one in March was the number of police. In March, with 1500 participants at 10 degrees, there were two troopers. Today, with 200 participants at 70 degrees, there were a dozen. One privately told me that while there why were there because of us, they really had no concerns about us. It's more about making the non-gun owning public comfortable that we're not going to shoot up downtown Lansing.

The WXYZ story was misleading. I thought open carry in PFZ's was already legal as long as you have a CPL.

The troopers that I had any interaction with were really cool. Several of them came over to get tri-folds, and one bought a shirt.

Most of the MSP Troopers privately support us. After all, they carry too.

The troopers need to get their legislative rep. to represent "their" wishes.
