The Coalition has scheduled the final joint picnic of the year for West Michigan.

Details are:

2001 Monroe Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI

NOTE: This is the second and most popular weekend of ArtPrize, which
has grown to become the largest annual event in West Michigan. The
park is located three miles north of downtown Grand Rapids and is just
off I-96 making driving convenient for those who wish to avoid
ArtPrize traffic but at the same time providing easy access straight
down Monroe Avenue for those who wish to combine the trip with a visit
to ArtPrize. This is a great excuse to bring your family and friends
to the picnic!

It's unfortunate that this event runs at the same time as a popular IDPA style "Defensive Pistol" shoot runs at the Rockford Sportsman's Club. We get done around 2pm. If the picnic ran later, we could scoot down there for a little while.

It's been my experience with MGO events that just because they end at a certain time, we can talk for hours after the events technically end! :)

I'm definitely in! Going to figure out our numbers and make reservations tonight.

If by "thousands of strangers and traffic" you mean ArtPrize, don't worry. The park is 3 miles north of downtown Grand Rapids and ArtPrize and that event shouldn't even be noticeable except for heavier than normal traffic on I-96. Although even that is relative as traffic coming into Grand Rapids is often very heavy. But at least we drive at reasonable speeds. I'm amazed every time I go to Detroit that traffic flow moves at about 90 mph. In GR, it's about 70 mph on the best days.

I was looking forward to coming but I just realized this is the same weekend I've got a family camping trip planned.

Might drive back down to GR just to drop in.

finding information of this event was very difficult. I had to google a few times. I would think that MCRGO and MOC would have more info on their page about it, but they don't
anyways, see y'all there on Saturday

edit: I found more info on their forums, so its there. I don't even remember how I heard about it initially, maybe through Facebook

It was great seeing so many there.

The picnic wasn't necessarily an OC picnic, but oh well.

Open-carry picnic brings 200 people, including children, to Riverside Park

What a great time this was!!! We signed up 5 new members, and sold a ton of shirts! Most importantly we were able to chat, and enjoy ourselves amongst like minded folks! I was great seeing everyone there!
