Volunteers needed for early fall stewardship projects
at state parks in southeastern Michigan

Residents in Southeast Michigan are invited to join in the effort to protect high-quality natural areas. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently announced a schedule of September volunteer stewardship activities. Volunteering for these workdays is a great way to Go Get Outdoors (http://links.govdelivery.com:80/track?type=click&enid=ZWFzPTEmbWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTMwODI3LjIyMzIwODgxJ m1lc3NhZ2VpZD1NREItUFJELUJVTC0yMDEzMDgyNy4yMjMyMDg 4MSZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPTEwMDEmc2VyaWFsPTE3NzQ3MjI5JmVtY WlsaWQ9bWlrZXRoaWVkZUB5YWhvby5jb20mdXNlcmlkPW1pa2V 0aGllZGVAeWFob28uY29tJmZsPSZleHRyYT1NdWx0aXZhcmlhd GVJZD0mJiY=&&&106&&&http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10365_36576---,00.html?source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery) in many of Michigan’s state parks, breathe some fresh air, have fun and get a bit of exercise – all while enjoying beautiful scenery and learning about plants and animals.

Help is needed to cut and pile invasive, non-native shrubs like autumn olive, honeysuckle and buckthorn, and possibly to collect seed or plant native plants. Removal of invasive plants is an enjoyable way to spend time outdoors and learn about the health of natural ecosystems. Volunteers of all ages (including youth and Scout groups and service clubs) are invited to participate.

Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing for outdoor work (including long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes) and bring gloves and drinking water.

Workday dates, locations (counties) and times are:

Needing to Open carry ?

Plants are invasive,...however, they will NOT attack you. You do not need to be afraid of them, or have to defend yourself against them.

No wonder non-gun owners think that gun owners are paranoid, or worse.

Thanks for making us all look like idiots ( sarcasm intended )

You should be more concerned with keeping things shut, not open.
